Description of 1983 BMW 5-Series |
This is a 33 year old classic survivor and a weekend driver, but only when the weather is sunny and mild. I have 5 cars and oftentimes do not use it for weeks on end. This car came to Illinois from California in 2004. It was previously owned by a friend who was a race car driver back in my country. He set this up for his wife and I got it when they parted ways. He installed a turbo charger which I had taken out to prolong the engine life and I drive leisurely at all times, anyway. The good stuff: It has disc brakes all around with slotted and drilled rotors. The 4 tires still have a lot of life to them. The sale will come with 2 Continental tires. Bilsteins sport shocks and lowered. A killer 10 speaker sound system with an amp on each channel. A Bilstein SportKit front shock brace. Upholstery in great shape for its age which can be seen in the photos. A complete set of coco mats. The engine starts right up and revs without any problem. The sunroof works very well. The transmission shifts without any issue. It has a new battery. The bad stuff: Because of its age, this car is not perfect, but in good shape. Speedometer has stopped working. Rust developing on the side runners, but I had it checked and was advised that it can be easily and cheaply repaired. No rust on shock towers where it matters most. It probably needs a paint job, but still looks good. I had the A/C disengaged so it does not sap any power. The wipers work intermittently. Never had it checked as I don't drive it in the rain. This car is always garaged! There's a small nick on the front windshield, but can easily be replaced with an OEM for around $160.00 in Chicago. All other glass are OEM. I may have missed something, but tried to describe my baby as best as I can and am very sad to let it go. My wife and I are downsizing and the house is next. I can assist with shipping, but local pick up is preferred. Thank you for looking! |
