Description of 1986 BMW 3-Series |
For sale is my 1986 BMW 324d in very good condition. I imagine this is one of the only 324d's in the country as this car was never sold in the US. A great collector car for any E30 enthusiast or a reliable daily driver that gets roughly 45 MPG since it is a diesel. This car was imported from Germany in 2008 by the previous owner. It has always been garaged and well-maintained. The car even comes with the original tool box in the trunk and the owner's manual (in German). The engine runs perfectly, and is shockingly quiet for a diesel from 1986. The clutch and brakes are very solid as well. I recently had the muffler and alternator replaced and have been religious about oil changes every 3-6 months even though I drive it only a few times a week. I am estimating that it has about 76,500 miles on it since the odometer stopped in August and I haven't driven it more than a few thousand miles since. You will see in the photos that the odometer reads 114,000, which is in Kilometers since this is a European car. I love this thing, it has the euro bumpers on it, a trailer hitch, and everything works including the original clock, remote door lock, heat, the new alpine head unit with USB, aux in, and bluetooth that I installed last summer, and I am only selling because I recently took a new job that means I don't need a second car. I would keep it just to have, but my wife already thinks I have too many toys lying around. You would be hard pressed to find an '86 in better condition. The only two negatives are that the seat upholstery has some wear (the worst section from the backseat is shown in the pictures) and there is a tiny bit of surface rust forming on the rear wheel wells (also shown in the pictures), but both of these are very minor. I have solved the problem temporarily with seat covers that you see in the pictures. Last thing to note is that this car came stock from the factory WITHOUT AC, I guess it isn't that warm in Germany, though the vents blow strong and cool. Even though this car is an import, parts are easy to come by as many E30's were sold in the US and the 524d, which was sold in the US, shares the same engine, so anything engine and fuel related is available as well. At this point the car has been registered in both Vermont and Connecticut, so you need not have any worries about registering or insuring it even though it is an import. Please feel free to message me if you have any questions. |
