Description of 1974 BMW 3.0 CS

Some assembly required.I received this car one year ago from a customer that wanted to have it restored. Life has got in the way and he would like to sell it. It was purchased from the family of a man who had started to restore it, but medical issues prevented him from completing it. That is the extent of my knowledge of the cars history.
The previous owner took extensive notes during disassembly. The notes will go with the car along with a factory parts manual, and factory service manual. He also took a lot of photos, however the CD I received containing photos was corrupt and I could not view them. I will give the buyer the CD in the event you may be able to extract them. The photos in the auction are what I have taken. If you desire anything more detailed, I will be happy to accommodate if I can. I have a 9 sheet Excel spread sheet of the inventory of parts and their condition that I made when I got the car. I will be happy to email upon request.
The Body of the car is in excellent shape. There are a few dents that will need to be addressed, nothing larger than a quarter. The battery box will need to be welded in. A rusted one must have been cut out. I have front, rear, and wing window glass, but do not have any side glass. All of the rubber will need to be replaced. I do have the other two wheels, although they are not pictured.
All of the upholstery will need to be replaced. It is very dry and some is missing. In my opinion it would be hard to replace some of it and have it match the rest. Seat frames are all there and appear complete, hides were just removed.
The condition of the engine is unknown. It does turn over freely. I have been told the old "it ran when he took it apart", for what that is worth. The car was originally an automatic. Previous owner was going to convert it to a manual. There is a brand new Getrag 5 speed gear box, flywheel, and clutch. There is also a pedal box, but I am not sure if all the parts needed are there.
If you would like to view the car, let me know and we can make arrangements. If you need anything further I will be happy to help to the best of my ability.

If it is not clear from the photos, this car has zero rust. I know that is hard to believe, but it is true. There was some in the left front frame member, the rear wheel wells, and the rockers, but it was all addressed.

Just had a bidder ask a question regarding the title.I just called the owner of the car to have him send me the title. There is not a title with the car. The current owner has a bill of sale, and an affidavit from a lawyer stating that the seller of the vehicle (previous owner) is incapacitated and not able to sign over the title. This is all news to to me, and probably should have been taken care of prior to my being asked to sell the car. I am not sure (not a lawyer) if those documents would transfer to another buyer. The current owner of the car lives in North Carolina. The car is in Ohio. The car came from Alabama. North Carolina needs to inspect the car in order to issue a title. The bottom line is, no I do not have a title. Because this is news to me I am going to edit the auction to reflect this. Both the owner and I are going to do a little research today to gather more information regarding a prospective buyer with the current documents. If I can not find anything out by the end of the day I will probably pull the auction until we reach a resolution. I apologize for the confusion.

Update on the title documents for the car. Alabama DOES NOT issue a title for cars more than 35 years old. A registration is issued. When a vehicle this old is sold a copy of the registration, and a bill of sale is all that is required to transfer ownership. Every state in the union recognizes the Alabama policy. Each state has a different way of dealing with a car that is disassembled. Some only require the above documents and do not need to physically see the vehicle (FL). Some will not issue a title until the vehicle can be inspected as a running driving car (NC & OH) If you purchase this car you will receive a registration document, the bill of sale from Alabama owner to the North Carolina owner, and bill of sale from the North Carolina owner to you. Check with your state to find out how they deal with titling disassembled vehicles prior to bidding. If you believe I am incorrect, please fact check me. If you are not comfortable with anything stated, then please do not bid.
