Description of 1985 BMW 6-Series |
Offered here today with great reluctance is my California blue plated 1985 BMW 635CSi. Finished in Cosmosblau Metallic with a stunning blue leather Recaro'd interior and covering just 93. 00 original miles. This car was taken delivery from the factory in Munich on the 19th September 1985. 1. 12 miles and a 11 days later it was having it's first inspection at the dealer in Florence. Italy. It arrived in Los Angeles soon after receiving it's first US service at Center BMW on the 28th March 1986. from then until June 2001 it was always dealer maintained. This car is in exceptional condition. I had hoped to keep it but I don't have a garage and it's way too nice to leave on the street. It drives really well with a motor that starts on the button with no smoke on any unnecessary noises. The gearbox is smooth and quiet as is the rare limited slip diff. A/C is ice cold. All the brakes look recently replaced. All the suspension feels nice and tight. I noticed recent Bilsteins on the rear and some linkage on the front. The underside is completely rust free and looks to have a heavier protection than I see on US cars. New exhaust in the last year. I noticed dampness around the power steering pump but no signs of a major leak. I did tighten a hose a bit. The previous owner said he had a service performed mid last year. The oil is like new and I haven't used any in the few months I've been driving her. The exterior look spectacular. the paint looks good. there are a few nicks and scratches but nothing too obnoxious. all the trim is in great shape. the chrome bumpers are showing their age(that was going to be my next project) but all the rubber is still good. There is no signs of any accidents. The 16" BBS RS rims are gorgeous with lovely fat BF Goodrich tyres. That interior! That's what sold me on the car. blue leather Recaro's. you're kidding me it doesn't get any better than that. The fronts were re-leathered so there is that lovely fresh leather smell. All windows and sunroof work. The dash is perfect. almost impossible to see here in LA. the rest of the interior is a testament to care given to this car by it's prior owners. you just don't see them this clean. Also a sign this was a garage queen. The BMW first aid kit is still unopened! Like I said I want to keep it but I can't without a garage. this car will look like crap in a year. it needs to be in a garage with a lovely coat of wax now and again and an owner who takes her out to cars and coffee and drives with like-minded fellows.
