Description of 1970 BMW 2002 |
Up for auction is our 1970 BMW 1600.Very high driver quality, collectible BMW. Paint is excellent with a few minor flaws (detailed below).Underbody and suspension are solid and rust free. Originally a 1600, previous owner installed a low mileage 1971 2002 engine and transmission. 4 speed manual with hydraulic clutch. Runs and drives excellent. Interior is perfect - freshly redone in black pebble vinyl and new carpet. Sunroof has been completely removed and rebuilt with new cables, seals, etc. and works perfectly. New headliner. We had a specialized vintage BMW mechanic complete the following:Overhauled complete brake system including booster rebuild, master cylinder, wheel cylinders, calipers, hoses etc. Tune up with valve adjustments, plugs, timing and carb adjustments. Replaced rear subframe mounts with new. Our mechanic also went through all the gauges, lights, horn etc. and made the necessary repairs to have everything working. He did recommend replacing the rear control arm - estimated cost $1800 including labor and parts. Minor cosmetic issues: paint on hood has a couple of cracks near the front and one near the center on passenger side.antenna is broken and needs a new mount on the pillar. These are shown in the listing photos. The car looks gorgeous and is ready to be driven and enjoyed! We wanted to keep this one but have gotten very involved with a 2000 CS project ($$$) and don't have the space to keep this one as well. These BMWs are only gaining in value and this is a great investment you can drive on a daily basis. |
