Description of 1957 BMW Isetta 300 |
this auction is for my 1957 bubblewindow isetta. i've owned this rare microcar for for over 20 years and during that time it has been through 2 frame off restorations and is in pristine condition. after purchasing this isetta from a private seller in compton CA in the mid-1990s, i had the car fully restored (restoration complete in 2000) bywerner schwarkof woodstock GA. this restoration incorporated many rare parts i personally collected in europe at the story microcar meet and elsewhere. after this restoration, i used the isetta as my daily driver around san francisco for a number of years. everyone loved seeing this tiny car and parking was very simple. :) as i learned more about isettas under the tutelage of my microcar mentorjohn jensen, in 2013 i decided to have the car restored again bygreg hahsof upland CA to a much higher standard using the remainder of my personally sourced rare original bubblewindow spare parts. upgrades introduced at that time include electronic ignition, NOS dynast art, german carpet set + insulation for a quieter ride and the addition of the iconic Z-moldings. since the completion of this second frame off restoration, my isetta has been driven less than 100 miles and currently resides in my company's palo alto CA offices as essentially a museum piece (though i occasionally take the isetta out for the occasional drive in order to keep things in good running order.) i recently had BMW expertscottie sharpeof santa clara CA go over the car completely and perform a few thousand dollars worth of minor maintenance (e.g., replace soft brake master cylinder, tune up the engine, install the original style heater, etc.) the car is, to my knowledge, in perfect working order. included with the car are two copies of john jensen's isetta restoration book (one in smudged working condition, the other in mint shape and signed by john). also included are two copies of the original BMW bubblewindow service manual (one is original but in very rough condition, the other is a carefully scanned copy, each page of which has then been digitally cleaned up, printed, individually laminated and collected in a 3-ring binder.) two copies of the keys (one each: ignition, door, engine cover) are included with the car. also included is an original california AAA keychain which is made up of a pair of tiny 1957 reproductions of the original 1957 "black plate" CA FIS451 license plate that the car still wears. please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions.please only bid on this auction if you intend to complete the auction.i reserve the right to end the auction early if the car is sold outside of eBay.thanks. |
