Description of 1983 BMW 3-Series 320i |
This is a well loved. fun vehicle that needs a new equally adoring owner. I am reluctantly selling this E21 because we recently purchased a newer vehicle and find it impractical to have two cars in the city. This car has been cared for with proper maintenance and driving. It is an old car (31yrs. ). so it obviously comes with its quirks and hidden expenses. but not so much that they are a burden. As with many e21's of this vintage. the electronics tend to be a bit fickle. namely the hazard light and indicator lights. The interior dome light bulb has also burned out and it has not been replaced. although new and used parts are very easy to come by. Everything in the car is stock with the exception of the stereo and speakers. which were upgraded by the previous owner. Apart from routine tune-ups and oil changes. I have replaced the AC. front and rear shocks/struts. repaired the heat. replaced idle valve and hoses. and a few other things that our mechanic could better describe. I love the car. but I don't pretend to know everything about the mechanics. nor do I fancy myself as a mechanic. Since I have owned the car (four years) it has always been serviced at a professional garage that specializes in old BMWs and Mercedes. If I were to guess. the next thing that would need some attention are the brakes. but we are leaving that for the next owner. It drives fine now. but that is probably on the horizon. I recommend this car to someone that is specifically looking for an E21 or old BMW. It is not the type of car one should consider if they are looking for a cheap everyday driver. as it is more suited for an enthusiast and someone who has patience for an older car. We would keep this car if we could but garage space in NYC is limited (and expensive) and we need to move on from the classics for a while. Feel free to contact me with questions and I'll do my best to respond. The buyer will be responsible for picking up the vehicle and any necessary shipping arrangements. |
