Description of 1970 BMW 2002 |
NO RESERVE AUCTION!! Welcome. You are bidding on a 1970 BMW 2002. I purchased this car earlier this year with plans to get it running and sorted out. However after months of it sitting I have decided/realized I am not going to have time for the project. This car is still not running. It does roll and steer easily. Please take a look at the pictures and read the description. I am happy to help arrange shipping worldwide. This car DOES NOT come with a title. It has been long lost. Here is the description of the car. 1970 BMW 2002 COMMA GT-2 Race Car First of two 2002 COMMA GT race cars Built by Alf Gebhardt Racing USA First BMW 2002 to win an COMMA GT Racing Championship 3.0 liter M30 six cylinder race engine with triple 45DCOE Webers Close throw 4-speed transmission Bilstein suspension Offered here for sale is a 1970 BMW 2002 GT2 race car. This example has interesting credentials including race history under the Competition Motorsport Association, (COMMA) GT2 specifications. This is an excellent platform for slight or full restoration, but is a project and not turnkey. This 2002 was one of ten BMW (and only 1 of 2 e10) race cars that Alf Gebhardt Racing built, designed to compete as a sedan or a cabriolet(!). This car won the COMMA GT2 racing championship in 1990 for owner, builder, and driver Alf Gebhardt. Alf and his son Marcel campaigned the car until local racer Tom Burke took ownership in 2000 and raced the car through the 2003 season. With the wide Schnitzer box style body kit, this Alpine White e10 barely looks stock. Lexan front windshield Both doors have been welded shut and handles removed and shaved. The sheet metal hood and deck lid were replaced with race weight fiberglass. In addition, a fiberglass rear deck spoiler has been attached to the deck lid.The OEM front windshield has been replaced with Lexan. Inside, the cabin is finished in flat black. This professionally built race car displays a fully sanctioned roll cage welded to the chassis and doors for added rigidity. An extremely rare Motorsport (CSL) racing fiberglass dash comes equipped with arace tachometer and full bank of gauges.A period correct Cobra race seat on Recaro rails completes the interior.
This car is equipped with an estimated 265+hp M30b30 3.0 liter "big six" cylinder engine with a Schrick cam fed by a triple Weber 45DCOE carburetor set-up with a full race diameter header and exhaust. Power is transferred to the wheels with a 262 4-speed transmission back to a 100% locked rear differential. Driver assist features include front and rear ATE 4 piston caliper racing disc brakes. Bilstein front and rear suspension and 5x120 racing studs. 16x10 2-piece Centerline light weight alloys with Avon 21.0x10.5-16 slicks in the front and Goodyear 23.0x10.5-16 slicks in the rear. This is a rare opportunity to own one the rarest 2002’s constructedby one of the most legendary BMW race carbuilders in the country. Perfect toenjoy campaigning in vintage or club racing or as an addition to your collection. |
