Description of 1988 BMW 7-Series 735i manual |
This is a 1988 BMW 735i MANUAL ! 125K Miles BBS RGR FORGED WHEELS Bilstein Shocks Alpine 9887 Pioneer PRS speakers. NOTE THE CAR HAS METRIC DISPLAYS 201417 KM = 125154 Miles I acquired this car way back in 2007. It was originally a Canadian car (thus the metric km mileage and speed and fuel displays) and was purchased by a woman in Florida. I bought it from her and had it shipped in a covered transport to South Carolina. This is not a snow belt rust car. It has spent most of its life in a garage. It is Canadian and thus the displays are in metric. The odometer reads 201417 kilometers which X . 62 = 125154 miles The car has never been driven in snow and has no rust or other corrosion. I owned it and did several major upgrades to it and extensive maintenance. My father acquired the car from me and drove it for a couple of years. He decided to purchase my E34 540i 6spd and sold my 735i back to me. I put the car in storage for a couple of years (climate and humidity controlled shop) I pulled it back out and I have put about 6000 miles on it in the last year. I also recently re-acquired the E34 540i. (my Dad keeps upgrading to more power (twin turbo V12 Mercedes currently) I also have a E32 750iL and a 91 E34 M5. I love old German cars and I religiously maintain them and perform high end tasteful upgrades. Engine – The engine is the bullet proof M30. Don’t take my word for it. Google it. It runs perfect. I mean perfect. This was the final incarnation of the BMW big six. I am very careful with the engine and never use higher RPMs until the engine warms up and even then it never exceeds 5000 (M30 has good torque. its not a S38 that just wakes up at 4000) I only run Mobil 1 Synthetic oil in it and it just had an oil change about 200 miles ago. A Turner Motorsports chip was installed in the car several years ago. I only run the car on Shell 93 or if I am traveling a top tier gas provider. Over the last few years the car has had new plugs. rotors. coils etc. I recently replaced one of the fuel lines above the injectors (damn ethanol in gas) (the others had been replaced previously). I just use it for commuting to work ( nice heated seats on a cold morning). The shifter is perfect with no play. Brakes – They are perfect with probably 80% on pads front and rear. Clutch – I have not replaced it but it is great. No slipping. no issues. How does it drive? - In a word perfect. There are no shimmy’s. no pulling. The car with the shock. wheels and tire upgrades is super planted. Almost on the level of my M5. Exhaust – Car has a Billy Boat stainless exhaust system which sounds awesome. The factory cats are still in place for anyone that lives in an emissions state. Body – The paint is beautiful. The body is fantastic. AC – Works perfect. The car received a new compressor and new aux fans several years ago. Suspension – The shocks were upgraded to Bilstein HD shocks. They really give the car a planted feeling and Wheels – I upgraded from the 15” stock wheels to BBS RGR – Forged 18s. No more bends or BS. Forged wheels are lighter and stronger. They don’t bend or or deform over small potholes and they balance better. The car has matching Yokohama S4 Advan tires with about 50% of tread left. I can’t emphasis how planted the car is. how great the handling is. and how nice the ride is. If you have driven a wonderful early M5 that’s how it rides. Interior – The leather is in great shape. The floor mats are Bavarian Autosport – Extra Thick. The car has an Alpine 9887 Head unit (in my opinion one of the best ever made) The speakers are Pioneer PRS (If you don't know what the TS-C172PRS are. then google it (almost $700 when new)). Some of the best sounding components of all time. The system has a false wall in the back of the trunk which hides the twin amplifiers and the sealed Image Dynamics subwoofer enclosure behind the rear center armrest. The front speakers are bi-amped (each mid-range and tweeter has its own channel on the amplifier. I don’t use the analog crossovers. I control that via the head-unit. 63K 24db cutoff for PRS speakers in case you were wondering. It was installed by Sound Sensations in Marietta GA by Jeff Smith several years ago (he has constructed award winning stereo installations for years). He hand built the enclosures for the PRS speakers and they are integrated into the car. The sound stage is amazing. The car is hard wired for a Valentine One radar detector. I encourage you to come and see the car and test drive it. You will find my description accurate and complete. You will never find another E32 735i in this condition. It simply doesn't exist. If you love older BMWs and a car that is bulletproof reliable you will never find something better. While it requires regular maintenance (and I perform it religiously) it is not the extreme maintenance of a 750iL or a M5. I like my cars to be analog not digital. Not appliances for transport. Kind of like the Boeing vs Airbus debate. I love this car but I am selling to focus on upgrades to my E34s. Please feel free to ask questions. If you need a pictures of anything else please ask. My 100% positive feedback (many for cars bought and sold) speaks for itself. Thank you and good luck! |
