Description of 1988 BMW 5-Series E AUTOMATIC

BMW 5-Series. 1988 528e. 137,226 miles. Clean title. Automatic transmission
This vehicle will be a great project for a BMW enthusiast. I am selling due to downsizing and I am about to start building a camper van.

Owned this vehicle since 2014. I am the third owner. Spent it's life in NC. Vehicle cranks and runs and drives. No smoke from the exhaust when cranked/running. As you can see the clearcoat is in not so great condition on the trunk/hood/roof, but the vehicle is solid with two spots of visible rust on the sunroof.
Service was done last year at World Class Auto in Raleigh NC with tire rods/brake work done. Transmission shifts really well. Battery replaced about two years ago.
A/C DOES NOT cool at all. Stereo was replaced by previous owner and works although the quality of the sound from the speakers is not great.
Replaced rear window a few years ago with a used window from a donor 528e. Trim around windows will need to be replaced due to cracking/sunlight damage
Cracks in the dash. All electric windows BUT ONE go up and down. Electric seats and electric headrests work. Seats were reupholstered by the previous owner and there are no rips in the them. Carpet is in good shape.
4 new ties put on about 200 miles ago. Wheels are tarnished and need to be recoated. Has a spare alloy wheel/tire in the trunk. Tool kit has one allen key in it.
All lights work except the fog lights they have never worked since I bought the vehicle.
All gauges work on the dashboard/console. Within the last 500 miles or so I've noticed that the temperature needle will fluctuate a little, so not sure if the thermostat is going bad. Vehicle has ONE key.
The vehicle has no leaks. When it's moved after being stationary for a few days there are no spots on the ground under the engine bay.
To recap...vehicle is solid with a good engine and transmission that has no leaks. Transmission shifts really well and the engine cranks and runs. Two spots of rust on the sunroof with no other rust that I can see. Paint/clearcoat needs repainted on the hood/roof/trunk. Lots of cosmetic fixes need to be done on this vehicle as you will see from the pictures. Tires good/wheels need recoated. NO COLD A/C again NO COLD A/C.

This is a 35 year old vehicle, so I should not have to say this but I will...it is sold as is. If it's what you are looking for then bid on it if not then don't. This vehicle drives around town well and that's pretty much what it has done for the last few years or so...will it drive 100's of miles without issue? Maybe or maybe not...
