You're looking at a 1985 BMW 635csi in Dolphin Gray Metallic over Pearl Beige with 146k miles. I have owned this car since September 2011 when I bought with 135k miles. I am selling it as I just picked up a 1988 M6 in Cinnabar Red. The car was born as an automatic, but the owner just before me swapped in a manual transmission to make it proper big coupe touring machine!! Major repairs I have done during my stewardship include: December 2011RadiatorNovember 2014Valve cover gasketTiming cover gasketCooling fanSerpentine and drive beltsPower steering return hosePower steering suction hoseJune 2015Crank position sensorAugust 2015Fan clutchJuly 2017Power antennaAugust 2022External fuel pumpFuel filterOctober 2022Thermo-time switch (TTS) January 2023New battery The car will soon need front brakes and front shocks. I have a full set of shocks and springs for all four corners that were on car, but swapped out by previous owner to soften the ride and are included in this sale at no additional cost. Paint is in great condition. While I don't know if it's the original paint, it is the original paint color (pictured). Other than a small rust bubble on driver's fender lip (pictured), the car has no rust (pictured). Other paint imperfections include: - a thumb sized chip on the sunroof (pictured)
- shallow scratches on decklid (pictured)
- 3 peeled areas on front valance (pictured)
- and a small swirled scratch on passenger's door near side mirror (pictured).
The interior is in great condition (aside from the driver's seat as mentioned below). All of the seat motors work with the exception of the passenger's back tilt. I do have a replacement motor I can include for an additional cost. BMW style 4 wheels are reminiscent of classic Alpina wheels. The toolset is complete. Other minor issues to be aware of include:
- Cruise control doesn't work. It used to work until the stalk switch broke. I replace the stalk last year, but now it doesn't work. I may have purchased a bad stalk. Stalks are available for $50 on EBay.
- Blower fan only runs on high. The control switch needs to be repaired/replaced. The switch is available for $100 on EBay or you can replace the transistor in the switch if your handy with a soldering gun. I have a box of new transistors I will include in this sale. Not an issue though. Roll down the windows, open the sunroof and enjoy the drive!!
- AC doesn't work as like most of this vintage. As with the blower fan, it's not an issue though. Roll down the windows, open the sunroof and enjoy the drive!!
- Won't start under 50 degrees although it does crank. I replaced the thermo-time switch, but it didn't solve the issue. It's probably the cold start injector which is $150 new.
- Driver's outside back bolster has tear and shows wear.
- Cracks in dashboard as like most of this vintage.
