Description of 1983 BMW 3-Series Sport model

1983 BMW 320iS (Sport model) Survivor Original Hennarot Red An up and coming collectible 1983 BMW 320iS. BMW only made 2500 of these cars from 1981 to 1983 and are just wonderful cars to drive and to own. This being one of the final production 320iS from 1983. Unique features included limited slip differential. close ratio 5 speed. sport steering wheel. bigger anti-sway front and rear bars. BBS wheels. Recaro sport seats. fog lights. Bilstein stiffer struts. etc. The affordable part of this rising collectible car is the drive train is the same as a regular 320i which means no high dollar. hard to find. drive train partsSo every time we or our clients get a chance to own one of these we encourage as just a great alternative to an expensive "daily driver" capable BMW 2002 or Tii. 320iS as much more modern. easy to drive car at lower investment amount for a nearly modern daily driver capable car with potentially significant appreciation potential. Paint in excellent shape. We noticed one or two very minor hardly noticeable dents on hood . Paint shines very nicely and appears to have updated clear coat based coat on most of car that is buffed out nicely but could be buffed to even a higher shine and gloss · Appears to have all the 320iS goodies (seats. fogs. transmission. differential. large tool holder on trunk lid. etc. ) as reflected in link and list above · Wheels have been redone and painted in original silver look with good newer tires · Trunk in nice shape. no corrosion in spare tire or around trunk seal so often seen in 320is· Sunroof works as it should. No rips or tears in headliner but does have some minor discoloration or light stains on original white headliner. In our opinion no reason to replace but not perfect and likely can be cleaned up nicer with some auto bleach white cleaner · Doors. hood. deck lid locks etc. all seem to work well. lock. unlock. operate nicely· We did notice back of one headrest on passenger seat has some seperation along a seam of fabric. likely and easy cheap fix as you can just remove headrest and let upholstrey fix. Engine condition · In our test driving and maintenance on this car we have found no issues with condition of drive train. starts easily. runs fast. no hesitation. good power as new. 5 speed works flawlessly. just a joy to drive. Note many 320is have issues with the CIS (J-tronic continuous fuel injection when cold or idle issues. ) this car appears to work as new. Starts up easily cold and warmed up and runs and revs as we imagine it did new · Instruments all appears to work. Gas gauge works but may read about 1/8th full when empty but otw most all gauges. lights etc. seem to work as they should (turn signals. lights. dash lights. tach. speedo etc. ) all seem to work nicely · AC and heater seems to work well. Blower works on all fan speeds and AC turn on switch kicks on compressor and it does cool although probably needs freon. We often upgrade the original compressors to a modern rotary compressor for reliability and additional cooling capacity with new hoses - and could do this for new owner at a modest cost but appears AC is "working" as it sits. Interior upgrades · Interior appears to be all original and in nice shape. Carpet. dash. seats. headliner etc. all appear original and in B+ condition. Dash has some really minor cracks that appear to have been filled with epoxy and looks very nice. see pics. Note our comment above about one headrest that needs some minor attention Other · Original BMW stereo in car but no power wire connected . will connect for new owner and inform if radio working. Or we can install modern stereo unit for new owner · Just a joy to driver. smooth. quick. nice performance in suspension. engine. Recaro seat fit etc. · Bottom of car appears to be very solid. As of time of this ad has NOT been power washed but will before car is sold. Will add some pics prior to power washing so you can see how nice and original but new owner will get car power washed and detailed a bit on bottom of car. If car is headed to a "salty" climate we could put a light undercoat on bottom of car before it ships at small additional charge. · Car title has a "Salvage" brand from what previous owner explained was a theft recovery. We cannot find body. frame damage. water damage etc. or even any "rot" anywhere. It is possible we could miss something so encourage your inspection but feel this is an excellent preserved rare car. It is possible if Salvage brand only from theft recovery that the brand could be removed with proper explanation when you register car with your local DMV. We are not experts in this and thus want to fully disclose salvage brand on title. However. in our inspections we cannot find any evidence that salvage brand stems from condition of car (water. collision. other ) so previous owner message seems to make sense.
