Description of 1940 Buick Other SUPER 8 |
Many out there want rods, ustom, uscle, it, ltered buggies, ut the meat meets the road in a pre-war BUICK with the top down (country or opera music optional/furnished by this car's quiet operation & your music mind; only a 1940 non-working radio included). Starts, ccelerates, amp; shifts quietly. Still starts with gas pedal push & has the original old fashioned 6volt battery. Starting is so easy the 6 volts doesn't seem to strain. Body & Paint: solid body metals with very little repair, f any. For preservation, ll the underside needs is maybe a surface rust neutralizing spray and/or coating. Splash fender areas & wells are rustfree. The paint is original. This Buick is for the owner that appreciates & sees patina as a plus with maybe a repaint in the future. Driver's roll up window glass has a crack, ut is firm ¬ unpleasing, till water tight, nbsp;winds flawlessly, o visual blocks, o no need to change any time soon. Glass is available on Ebay. All other glass is perfect. Windows roll up/down great. All chromes (door window surround frames, tcetera) are Nice. Doors close nicely with hardly any effort & have good allignments with NO drops. And, hey lock. No rust bottoms or skins. Interior & top: ALL recently NEW. Looks to have been a power top, ut long time ago (switch under dash not hooked up; hand operation is the NOW method). Top clamps nicely with very little effort. Engine: the straight eight overhead original motor. Smooth operation, o oil smoke, ot overheat & no valve tapping Stability: Stays fairly true on road with minimal steering wheel play (acceptable & better than most I've known). Had recent new brake work (stop on a dime thing)........................................ Transmission: manual column shift seems to be flawless. No clutch slippage, oise, r kinking. Gauges:That are working-gas, harge, il pressure, emperature. Not work: rear directional lights, orn (horn relay is unplugged & beeps when that terminal is connected). Speedometer works, ut seems half scale). Heater is hooked up. Not sure about blower motor(checking/troubleshooting). The manual open Air intake vent does open from inside car (for the air conditioning of 1940 & it really makes a difference in HOT Florida with all vent/ windows-cowl vent OPEN). The emergency brake does work. Comes with two sets of tires; original rims/beauty rings & the spoke rims/knock offs as seen on the car. An original 1940 era Buick radio (bench test lights it up, ut thats with my an "old/notsure if good"6v garage test battery)is also included with many small "over the years" parts. And, ual "spotlights". It has the NEW top boot, ut also has the original boot (kept for posterity). These cars Never go out of style. Call for a BUICK experience & possible price negotiation speculation, nbsp; 904-881-3495. I have many more pictures of various parts, etc. I can remove items from the trunk if further examination is needed. The horn works, ut the button voltage feed will have to be cleaned or troubleshooted ( I have it disconnected from horn relay so it won't drain battery). There are no other electrical problems. Battery otherwise stays stable. Generator works (tested by removing a battery cable while running (stayed running). $500 non-refundable deposit in 24 hours. Balance due in 7 days. As is sale. **********NEW B.F. GOODRICH TIRES. ************ I would not hesitate to drive this for a long road trip. CHECK OUT :::::::::eBay item number:371402061334. YES, TS RESTORED; YES ITS A BIT DIFFERENT MODEL THAN MY BUICK; YES ITS START BID IS DOUBLE THE COST OF MY -----------"BUY NOW" PRICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SAME THRILL, IFFERENT MONEY ANDLETS YOU OWN RATHER THAN NEVER OWN. SIMILAR TO Models 46, 6C,46S,66,66C,66S. key words. This Buick is not listed anywhere else. I would trade this Buick plus $30,000 cash for a 1963 corvette split window. 1953 Packard convertible coming soon. Rebuilt straight 8; auto; 77k miles; minimal to no rust. |
