This 1940 Buick Super Convertible "4 door - very rare" had a frame off restoration completed in 1992 by Albert Brigman in Asheville, C. My uncle purchased this Buick and had it brought to Asheville, C for the restoration. The Buick has a 455 Buick engine, 00 turbo automatic transmission, fat boy front end, ova rear end, ual exhaust, ir conditioning, ower steering, ower disc brakes, ruise control, nd tilt steering - this makes this Buick drive smooth and sweet. The interior is done in white and burgundy naugahyde with matching burgundy carpet and custom made floor mats. The interior looks as good as when the car was picked up from the restorer in 1992. The burgundy paint (base coat and clear coat)shines like new with only a few small chips from road use. The convertible top was professionally made for this vehicle using the original pieces on the top as a pattern and professionally installed. There is a small repaired area on thepassengerside of the convertible top just above the rear side window - it was professionally repaired years ago and does not leak. 1940 was the first year that Buick introduced the split hood where 1/2 of the hood could be raised at a time and the "Super" is a little bigger than the "Special". My aunt and uncle owned the funeral home in Black Mountain, C and kept the car in a climate control garage. When they sold the funeral home and moved to a retirement village the car was moved to a private automobile museum. Serious buyers and or agents can fly into the Asheville Regional Airport (AVL) and I will be happy to arrange transportation to see the car and if you want more information about the Buick, eel free to call me at 864-216-3736.
