Description of 1970 Buick LeSabre Custom |
This is one very nice. very original. two owner car. The milage is correct at 73. 78. documented. All paperwork since new. a lady by the name of Casmir bought the car new in 1970 at Garber Buick in Saginaw. Mich. (Still in business). she was 25 years old when she bought the car and she had it until her death in the early 2000's. it was then brought to Florida. and I purchased it from the family. It has a clear Florida title in my name. Even though this car is from Michigan. it was stored every winter. therefore it did not rust from road salt. The car was laid up in a garage for quite some time when I purchased it with a broken timing chain. I have replaced the chain. and re-built the oil pump. changed the oil and filter (Valvoline VR-1 with high Zinc content and Wix filter). and the car now runs very nice. but it does need a timing light put on it. (I don't have one. so I timed it by hand. starts and runs nice. but it's still off time) The car yard drives. and the transmission fluid is nice and red. and antifreeze is nice and green. I went to bleed the brakes and got the front ones bled. went to do the rears and blew the main brake line that goes from the valve in the front to the valve on the rear end. So it will need at least that replaced. I do not have a lift. or I would have done it. Also. I removed the fuel tank and it's in fine shape. but my sealer did not stick to the inside. as I forgot to clean it with acid first. At this point. it needs to be cleaned with muriatic acid. and re-sealed. and it will be fine. It was all cleaned out. but I think I put the sealer in before it was completely dry inside. The interior of the car is fantastic. There is some fading to the original carpet. but not bad. and some discoloration to the carpet on the lower door panels. like someone tried to clean with a chemical that was too caustic. Other than that. the interior is gorgeous. The car does not have air conditioning or power windows. but it does still have the factory AM/FM radio with rear speakers. The exterior of the car is still wearing 98 percent of it's original Diplomat Blue Metallic color. which is gorgeous. It does have some thin spots. and some staining especially to the flat surfaces. you can tell in the pictures. I did get a pretty good shine back on it with some Maguire's products. It has a ding in the rear driver's side door. and a ding in the driver's upper quarter. but still looks good enough to leave it's original paint on it. There are a few surface rust spots. you can see in my pics. and the lower front driver's side fender will need some repair. it has one hole. The floors and frame are very. very solid with only some scaling that will need to be cleaned off on a lift. The trunk is 90% solid. but has two problem areas at the corners by the wheel wells. as the rear window was leaking. I've gotten it slowed down quite a bit. but it still needs to be taken out and sealed right. The tires are original and very dry rotted. it will need fresh ones to be driven. As you can see. it still needs some work. but the majority is done. Play around with it for the rest of the winter. and you will have one heck of a nice summer cruiser. They are only original once! Almost forgot. it has a bran new Rochester carb on it. and a new battery as well. and dual exhausts. Car must be paid for in full within 3 days of the auction's end. either cash or bank transfer. Must be picked up within a couple of weeks. This deserves to be finished and preserved as Cassie. it's original owner did. Here is a video of the car running. it idles very well. and it's not racing in the video. it's just the way my camera makes it sound. |
