Description of 1965 Buick Riviera |
1965 Buick Riviera NUMBERS MATCHING vehicle 401 Nailhead Engine with Automatic Transmission Speedometer Reading: 04288 Factory Air Conditioning works but needs freon Wood Steering Wheel with Tilt Rare speed sensor warning in speedometer Original Buick Wire Wheel Covers with Spinners Original Floor Mats (not pictured) Super Straight Body! A handful of parts have been removed to prepare for new paint job and are pictured. (Front lower bumper, side-view mirror, door lock cylinder, “Riviera emblem”, vent window cranks. New parts included are Weatherstripping, Riviera mudflaps, Sunvisors Other original parts that were replaced with upgrades included: Air Cleaner, distributor & cap, Ignition coil, carburetor, horn, rear armrests. This is a nice unmolested specimen with some light upgrades such as: Reupholstered interior (last 7 years) Original Carter Carburetor was replaced with Similar Edelbrock Performer Stock Ignition replaced with MSD high energy components This Riviera was in a Riviera Club most of its life and I am including 2 large binders full of monthly club magazines which include some amazing photos of various Riviera's in different years and mods. Also have the original Protecto Plate with the vehicle along with factory Owners manual. I do not have the keys to the door or trunk cylinders, but am looking for them. All windows work, but the right rear window works only intermittently (probably a dirty contact) Some of the turn signal bulbs and brake bulbs need to be replaced Headlights work but headlight doors (“clamshells”) do not open or close. May be a bad wire connection, or some dry hinges that need lubrication... Worse case is a headlight motor rebuild. (there is a man on Youtube who rebuilds hundreds of these economically) Windshield wipers, Antenna, Horn presently do not work.(Have not addressed these yet. I have been replacing dirty fuses and things start working again.) Driver Power Seat works intermittently. Interior shows well save for some discolor on the driver seat and rear, but I have not tried to remove it. Midnight Blue paint is thin and the white primer can be seen in some photos. This awesome Riv is dying for a new paint job and was about to get one but family health issues took precedence. Undercarriage, trunk, and quarter panels are usually the rust areas but this car is in nice stock condition with no corrosion issues (see photos) Only has some tiny isolated spots of oxidation (see photos) Amazingly straight clean body. Brakes work great with no pulling Car runs great, sounds great, and is scary powerful. Garaged Great daily driver while tweaking out the little imperfections.
