Description of 1941 Buick 90 Limited Touring Sedan Limited |
1941 Buick Series 90 Limited Touring Sedan Located in PORTLAND, OREGON. In an effort to gain market share from Cadillac, Buick introduced the Series 90 Limited in 1931. These were top-of-the-line luxury cars designed to compete with not just Cadillac, but Packard, Pierce Arrow and other luxury brands. Largely hand-built and upgraded with superior finishes, the Series 90's were truly the best that Buick had to offer during the 1930's and early 40's. This 1941 Series 90 Limited Touring Sedan on the 139" wheelbase was purchased 10 years ago by a prominent Northwest collector and Classic Car Club of America national board member, who set out on a multi-year, concours restoration of the highest caliber. Nothing was left undone to make this automobile a standout. The body was stripped to bare metal and painted in base/clear finish of correct Buick "Verde Green," which is understatedly elegant. All trim was removed and re-plated in show quality. The interior was reupholstered with tan leather up front and plush wool broadcloth in the rear compartment. Wilton wool carpet throughout. All of the interior trim was woodgrained and re-plated. Steering wheel recast and restored. The engine-turned dashboard was restored, along with all of the instruments, clock, "Sonomatic" push-button radio and heater/defroster, which function as-new. In the rear compartment, the original jump seats were removed and a custom walnut bar cabinet was hand-fabricated (an option that was available on the 1941 Limiteds.) The interior of the bar lights-up when the doors are opened and it contains beverage carafes and five custom cut crystal goblets that are engraved 'B-U-I-C-K" and fit in a custom holder. Absolutely gorgeous. Mechanically, no part of this car was left untouched. The original "Fireball Eight" engine was completely rebuilt by professionals. It runs whisper quiet yet immediately jumps to life when the compound carburetors kick-in. Rated at 165 horsepower, it was the most powerful OHV straight eight on the road in 1941. The entire drivetrain was restored. New brakes. Radial wide whitewall tires. This Buick runs and drives like-new and has proven itself on several long-distance Classic Car Club of America "CARavan" tours. It is dialed-in and ready to drive anywhere in comfort and style. We can safely state that there is no finer example of a 1941 Buick 90 Limited Touring Sedan in the world today. If you are looking for a turn-key Full Classic™ Buick to show or go, this is the one. Would also be a spectacular addition to a vintage limousine service. It comes with a full file of receipts for all work done, which exceeded $100,000. A reserve has been placed on the car WELL BELOW the cost of restoration. It could not be duplicated for the reserve price. Please bid accordingly. WE WILL HAPPILY SELL TO BUYERS WORLDWIDE AND ASSIST IN ARRANGING SHIPPING ANYWHERE. Thanks for looking and GOOD LUCK! If the video link below is inactive, please go to: https://youtu.be/TlJv_RG0b6s |
