Description of 1971 Buick Riviera GS |
I am reluctantly selling my 1971 Buick Riviera GS with an Ultra Rare Factory Sliding Steel Sunroof, Bucket Seats and Floor Shift Console that I have owned for 25 years. I have owned and built many of these 71 Rivieras but this one, I decided to turn into a Gentleman's Hot Rod / Resto Mod several years ago. Things in my life have changed over the years, on to new interests and this is the reason I am offering it for sale. I purchased this car 25 years ago from the original owner who purchased it brand new from O'Donnell Buick in San Gabriel, CA. It has been never stored outside so the trunk and interior floors are in very nice condition. When the car was 2 years old, it was stolen but when recovered and returned to the original owner, the motor and transmission were missing. I installed a high performance, 454 engine with 4 bolt main that I had professionally rebuilt which is now a 502. A professionally built 700 R4 race transmission was installed. I also changed the rear end to a Posi from 96 SS Impala, rebuilt it and added 3:73 gears. The car now has 4 wheel disc brakes which are in great working order. It also has heavy duty front and rear sway bars and air ride suspension on all 4 wheels. The car was completely disassembled and painted professionally in a 1 year only Porsche color. When I purchased it, it had all original factory paint in Copper Mist Metallic. The car was blocked to laser straightness, painted then all panels were then reassembled. All the jambs are perfect as this was not a quickie paint job. Cost for this was $12,000. I also had the Original Bucket Seats recovered in the correct vinyl - as pictured. Soon after receiving the car from the restoration shop, I became very busy with my business and because of this, the car sat in my warehouse for many years, unfinished. Unfortunately, it has suffered from various people bumping into it as they walked by or by denting it here and there so the car really should be either repainted again in in the same color or any color you choose. It was also bumped in the front and because the bumper had not yet been installed, the car suffered some minor front end damage which still needs some attention. This car is complete, and I have mostly all parts to reassemble - some of which are NOS GM Parts. It runs, drives, starts and stops in it's current condition but needs to be finished before it can be driven on the street. Features are as follows: 1971 Buick Riviera GS * Rust free California Car since new * Ultra Rare Sliding Steel Electric Sunroof with NOS Hardware Included. * Rare Bucket Seats and Console. * Power Windows and Door Locks * Tilt Wheel * Factory Air Conditioning Custom Features: * 1971 High Performance 454 engine, 4 Bolt Main, now professionally rebuilt as a 502, with performance Cam, Headers, etc * 700 R4 Race Transmission with low RPM Overdrive - All Brand New, not a rebuild kit. * 3:73 Gears, Positraction, Disc Brake Rear End with heavy duty sway bar. * 4 Wheel Disc Brakes * 2 Inch Drop Spindles on Front End. * NOS Upper Control Arms with Rivetted Ball Joints, per GM Factory Installation * 4 wheel Air Bag Suspension with 2 air Storage Tanks (Fast Bags) * 18" Dayton Knock-Off Wire Wheels with 144 spokes.
