1986 Buick Grand National When Buick introduced the Grand National the Muscle Car field was anemic at best heck a Vette only had 185 horses. With the advent of multi-port fuel injection and intercooled turbo chargers the required "ponies to play" equation was pumped up considerably and Buick of all makes became the benchmark. With 245 horses the 3.8 Liter 6 began to gobble up many a previous competitor on the track and street.
