Description of 1962 Buick WILDCAT 2 DOOR COUPE |
FOR SALE IS MY BABY, A 1962 BUICK WILDCAT 2 DOOR HARD TOP. 49612 ORIGINAL MILES! SHE HAS A BLOWN 1965 BUICK NAILHEAD WITH 438 CUBES AND A 1965 T-400 AND 3:42 GEARS WITH A FACTORY DETROIT LOCKER POSITRACTION. I DO HAVE THE ORIGINAL UNCUT HOOD AND COMPLETELY REBUILT NUMBERS MATCHING ORIGINAL ENGINE IN STORAGE. ORIGINALLY SOLD AT BRALEY AND GRAHAM IN PORTLAND OREGON, THEN SHE WAS IN VENETA OREGON FOR NEARLY MOST OF HER LIFE. IN 2000 THE ORIGINAL OWNER SOLD HER, THEN IN 2007 THE OWNERS SON FOUND THE CAR ON THE SIDE OF A GARAGE JUST SITTING. SO HE BOUGHT IT FROM THE SECOND OWNER SO HE COULD GIVE IT BACK TO HIS DAD. THE DAD WAS SURPRISED, BUT HE WANTED OTHERS TO ENJOY THIS REALLY NICE CAR. SO HE TOOK IT TO THE PDX SWAP MEET, WHERE I ACQUIRED HER FOR $9000. A CHEAP PRICE FOR SUCH A LOW MILEAGE AND RARE CAR. SPECULATION TO HOW MANY WERE MADE WAS AROUND 2000 UNITS. THIS IS A 6 MONTH PRODUCTION RUN AS THIS VEHICLE WAS ONLY MADE FROM JULY - DEC 1962 IN IT'S FIRST PRODUCTION RUN. THIS VEHICLE WAS NOT IN THE ORIGINAL NEW MODEL CATALOG FOR 1962. THIS VEHICLE WAS IN IT'S OWN BROCHURE WITH THE SKYLARK. IN 2008, I HAD THE CAR STRIPPED TO BARE METAL. I HAD THE INTERIOR/TRUNK SPRAYED WITH INDUSTRIAL BED LINER FROM XTREME COATINGS OFF OF SANDY BLVD, IN PDX FOR LONGEVITY. (I DO NOT LIKE THE TAR PAPER CRAP) I THEN HAD THE VEHICLE TAKEN TO CLACKAMAS AUTO BODY (CLOSED NOW) AND THEY SPENT OVER 200 HOURS INTO BODY WORK AND PAINT. THE ENTIRE "PAINT JOB" WAS $14,500 AFTER PAINT, I TOOK THE CAR TO PREMIER UPHOLSTERY OFF OF FOSTER BLVD. (THEY ARE CLOSED TOO) THEY REDID THE FACTORY VINYL TOP, NEW DOOR PANELS, SEATS, THE WORKS. I HAD THEM PUT THE WHITE STRIPE IN THE INTERIOR AS IT WOULD BE BETTER LOOKING THAN THE ORIGINAL ALL RED INTERIOR. IT MAKES IT "POP" I THEN TOOK OUT THE ORIGINAL 401 ENGINE, HAD IT REBUILT AND IT NOW SITS ON A PALLET WRAPPED UP IN A BLANKET AND IT'S IN A TRAILER FOR SAFE KEEPING. (FOR NUMBER MATCHING) I REBUILT A T-400 3 SPEED WITH A 2000 STALL CONVERTER, INSTALLED THAT TO THE FRESHLY REBUILT 1965 BUICK 425 NAILHEAD. I BUILT THE ENGINE AND IT HAS ROUGHLY 500 MILES ON HER. SHE IS A 425 BORED .060 SHE SHE IS NOW A 438 CID NAILHEAD. ALSO HAD HAMPTON'S SUPERCHARGES IN CALIFORNIA BUILT ME AN INTAKE MANIFOLD AS BLOWER MANIFOLDS AREN'T MADE FOR A BUICK NAILHEAD. (NOW THEY ARE BUT I LIKE MY ONE OF A KIND) I ALSO HAD A LOWER BILLET CRANK BALANCER MADE SINCE THE OE ARE CAST IRON AND WILL BREAK. I ALSO CUSTOM BENT A MANDREL DUAL 2.5" EXHAUST SYSTEM TO WHICH WAS CERACOATED (I OWN A MANDREL BENDING BUSINESS) AND ATTACHED IT TO THE HEADERS I INSTALLED. THE REAR DIFF IS THE ORIGINAL 9 3/8 DROP OUT STYLE WITH A 3:42 POSITRACTION. IT'S A FACTORY DETROIT LOCKER STYLE POSI. ALL BRAKES HAVE BEEN REPLACED WITH NEW SHOES, CYLINDERS, RUBBER LINES, BOOSTER, MASTER CYLINDER. IT HAS THE ORIGINAL 12"X 2.25 ALUMINUM DRUMS AND 12 X 2" REAR STEEL DRUMS. THE BRAKES ARE FANTASTIC. THE FRONT SUSPENSION HAS ALL BEEN REPLACED WITH FACTORY PARTS. VEHICLE IS THE FIRST GM CAR MADE INTO PRODUCTION WITH A VINYL TOP. SINCE IT'S A WILDCAT, IT HAS THE BUCKET SEATS, WILDCAT BADGES, CENTER CONSOLE WITH 6K TACH AND A BEEFIER SUSPENSION. I HAVE A 1 1/16" FRONT AND A 1" REAR SWAY BAR ON HER. SHE ALSO SPORTS CRAGAR RIMS (PERIOD CORRECT) AND NEW WHITE LETTERED TIRES. SHE HANDLES REALLY WELL AND IS TIGHT AROUND THE CORNERS. THE POWER STEERING CAN BE TURNED WITH YOUR PINKY! VEHICLE ALSO HAS FACTORY POWER WINDOWS AS WELL AND A NEW WINDSHIELD AND ALL NEW RUBBER EVERYWHERE. I DON'T DRIVE HER MUCH ANY MORE, MAYBE 2 X'S A YEAR. SHE IS A GREAT LOOKER AND GETS ATTENTION EVERYWHERE I GO WITH HER. SINCE I OWN A BUSINESS I JUST DON'T HAVE THE TIME ANYMORE TO DRIVE HER. I WILL BE SAD TO LET HER GO, BUT I ALSO AM LOOKING FOR A "PROUD" NEW "RESPECTABLE" OWNER. AFTER ALL, WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU SEEN A BLOWN BUICK NAILHEAD IN A BUICK! I HAVE SEEN BUICKS WITH BLOWN CHEVIES AND EVEN THE FORD FALCON WITH A NAILHEAD. (GUESS THEY NEEDED A MORE RELIABLE MOTOR THAN A FORD??? (OUCH) PLEASE NO TRADES, I AM LIQUIDATING MY CAR "STASH". MY WIFE KEEPS TELLING ME I ONLY HAVE ONE BUTT! I CURRENTLY HAVE OVER 10 VEHICLES AND NEED TO CUT BACK.I AM OVER 50 AND "IT'S TIME" CAR IS IN NO HURRY TO SELL. PLEASE I DO NOT NEED ANYONE TO HELP ME SELL THIS CAR! NO CREDIT CARDS.. CASHIERS CHECKS OR WIRE TRANSFER ONLY! VEHICLE WILL NOT BE RELEASED UNTIL PAYMENT IS SHOWN AS A CREDIT OF TO MY BANK. I HAVE A CLEAN TITLE AND SHE IS REGISTERED IN OREGON WITH ORIGINAL PLATES AND A "CLASSIC CAR" STICKER SO IT NEVER NEEDS TO BE RE-REGISTERED EVERY YEAR IN OREGON.
