Description of 1949 Buick Buick Special -- |
1949 Buick Special Coupe Model 46s Only 4,687 built due to retooling after WWII. A truly rare regular production, post-war automobile. Only a handful on the registry of the Buick Club of America. Using the Old Cars price guide, this car is a 4+. The odometer has turned over so we are listing a worse case estimate, the engine, clutch, transmission, and front and rear ends are pretty worn. I bought this car from the original owner in 1970, I sold it in 1985 and re-bought it in 1994. During those nine years, the car was not cared for. The nitrocellulose lacquer paint is blistered and worn, and it has been re-upholstered with cheap seat covers. The front floor mat has brittled and is disintegrating. I performed a complete brake overhaul a number of years ago: everything replaced except the lines. The manifold was welded and promptly cracked due to the incompetency of the shop. The carburetor was overhauled by Daytona out of Florida. The automatic choke still doesn't function. The radio and clock function, although the latter must be reinitialized. (It "goes to sleep" every time I use the battery cut-off.) Although worn and needing TLC, the owner is firm on the price because of rarity. Cash only. No trades. Sold as is where is. No deposit required. It goes to the first buyer who shows up with the cash. Buyer to take possession in West Linn, Oregon a suburb of Portland |
