Description of 1956 Buick Riviera |
1956 Buick Super Only 14,940 of these cars were producedAside from the convertibles, and wagons, the super coupe was the lowest production Buick in 1956.The Data plate shows all the correct matching info for this carMod. - 56 - 56R - SuperStyle No. - 56- 4537 - 2 door Riviera SuperBody No. - BW- Wilmington, DelewareTrim code 533- Black cloth/Red CardaveenPaint No. - CMM (White Roof/Red body/Red below sweepspear) Through the years of ownership with this Buick, we havent had any issues and it has always ran and drove without any hiccups. This is most definitely the smoothest and most comfortable old car Ive ever had the pleasure of driving and owning. The power steering is smooth and really makes this large car a joy to drive. The drum brakes dont have a problem stopping this car either which is a pleasant surprise. The transmission is smooth and you can barely feel it shift. The 322 fireball engine runs nice and quiet and pulls nicely. Judging by the paint on the motor and in the engine bay, im not sure this motor has ever been out of the car. The mileage shows 71xxx but we cant be certain if that is accurate obviously. The car is very nice and looks to be original, I suspect it may have only been painted but its tough to tell in my opinion. The paint is very nice but under very close examination I can see some minor over spray in some areas under the hood where the fender meets the body. The paint is definitely a very very nice driver quality but not a showroom condition paint job. The worst spot of the paint on the car would be where the passenger side trim goes over the rear fender well, the paint has flaked a bit where the trim meets the body. There are not other issues like runs or fish eyes or scratches to note. I dont think the car has ever been restored or taken apart because the door, trunk and hood gaps are all very nice, and the doors all close solid. The front bumpers are very nice I would give them a 7/10 because of light oxidation. The front grille area has a spot with rust on it, it is still in great shape and can be re chromed/fixed. As you can see from the photos the rear bumper has seem better days, it does still shine nice and look ok but does have some rust holes near the exhaust tips. This interior looks to be original. The dash is in excellent condition, and nothing is missing. The speedometer is acting funky bouncing back and fourth, so i suspect it needs a new cable. The steering wheel is in near perfect condition with no cracks or anything. The power windows work...slowly. The power window switch is a little touchy and takes a special touch to work sometimes. I havent taken the time to take it apart and repair the contacts, I am sure thats all it needs. The glass is the car is all in excellent shape. There are 2 sets of floor mats in the car, the red rubber ones are very old and look to be original and in rough shape, and then another set of black rubbermade mats underneath that look nice. The kick panels and the trim at bottom of back seat arent perfect and are starting to show their age. Everything inside the car is very nice and solid. The trunk looks original, and solid, the original trunk liner is fragile, but underneath, the trunk floor looks good. There are 2 full size spare tires I encourage and welcome you to come see the car in person before bidding. I will do my best to answer any questions you have, I can also get you photos of anything you would like to see. Please do not bid unless you are fully prepared to purchase the car. |
