Description of 1965 Buick Riviera Grand Sport |
With mixed feelings I am offering for sale my 1965 Buick Riviera Grand Sport. It has the original 425 engine with 2 carter AFB four barrel carbs. It is well equipped with power windows, power driver seat, power antenna, am/fm radio, cruise control, tilt wheel and remote driver's mirror. The color is the original flame red and was repainted once to my knowledge30 plus years ago. The odometer shows 80,465 miles and is original according to the previous owner of 23 years. The interior of this car appears to be completely original (carpet probably not original, may be though) and is in very good condition. Headliner and interior trim are in great condition as are the seats. Dash has a 2 inch crack (behind steering wheel) otherwise very good. Driver side arm rest has a split, should be an easy fix. Everything under the hood is original except for a new fuel filter and battery. Engine runs good and starts easily although cold natured. The 2 carter fours could use a little tweaking although have been rebuilt. Automatic transmission shifts smoothly. Before I purchased the Riviera nearly a year ago from a 80 year old gentleman it had been sitting in his garage for about 20 years. Since then I have done the following; restored gas tank, replaced wheel cylinders and master cylinder, replaced most fuel lines, new fuel pump and sending unit, new shocks, new tires, new plugs and points, reconditioned original brake drums and rebuilt the carter AFB carbs. All chrome including bumpers are original to the car, bumpers are straight but need to be re-chromed . The body is in overall good condition and is straight. No rust that I can see, again car was repainted 30 plus years ago. There is some rust under the car, nothing major and photos show the areas. The frame is solid.Exhaust was replaced over time, no leaks but not original. This is a Virginia car and has beenit's entire life from what I have been told. This is a great car to drive as is or restore back to new. Handles like a dream and stops on a dime. Original cars like this one don't come alongvery often. Most collectors call this car the holy grail of Buicks and would love to have one like it. In January2018 afully restored1965 Buick Riviera GSsold for $117,700at the Scottsdale Barrett Jackson Auction. I have sold 5 cars on Ebay over the past 10 years, look at myfeedback. I have tried to be honest about the car and encourage you to come see the car. Clear Virginia title in my name. You may call me at 434-825-9128, eastern standard time from 9am to 10pm. $1,000 deposit within 24 hours of sale and full payment within7 days. I reserve the right to end the auction at any time. |
