Description of 1987 Buick Grand National |
I am listing this immaculate, two-owner 1987 Buick Grand National with only 28K original miles. It is all original, with no modifications and is the fastest production car made in America in 1987. It was even faster than GM’s own Corvette. This car is on every auto industry’s list as the “best of the eighties”. 3.8 turbocharged V6, numbers matching!!! This is the most sought after Grand National. It is a factory original 1987 Buick Grand National with the T-Top option. This has pristine, original paint that is as close to mint condition that you will ever see. The previous owner was a Buick man from Motor City area (Detroit, Michigan). He babied and perfectly preserved this GN. There are a lot ofnice GN's out there, but this one far exceeds every other one I have seen and I have passed over many others before finding this one-of-a-kind find. I have been selling on eBay for 20 years with a perfect 100% rating (which is very important to me) specializing in selling high end and very rare vehicles. This #1 conditionunrestoredsurvivorcar isnear perfectionin quality and correctness. Simply an amazing investment for a one owner (I’m the second), $28K mileage car. With all thespeculationof an all new redesigned Grand National and GNX possible, these will be sure to follow a pattern like the 05/06 Ford GT and the release of the new 2017 Ford GT spike in valuations. If the brand new 2019 GN's do bring a disappointment, then these will be even more desirable! This GN has no mods andnever raced! The owner said he only burned the tires once after purchase. He also hated the idea of modifications. We were on the same page and this is what made this GN the perfect buy. I flew to Detroit to see it in person because I wanted to make sure it wasn’t too good to be true. It didn’t disappoint and I bought it onsite, with cash. *Please note there was normalmaintenanceand upkeep on this vehicle. The battery and oil filter (etc.) are not going to be from 1987.* Extremely important: Notice there are NO stress cracks or twisting of the frame which is an easy indicator that a car may have been raced and abused. I took underbody pictures to substantiate that claim. The original spare is in the trunk and was never removed. The original jack assembly is still untouched as well. FULLY LOADED WITH EVERY OPTION INCLUDING T-TOPS. 1 owner (I’m the second) with original documentation and including an original GN jacket (very rare). Power windows, power locks, six-way power seats, power steering, power brakes, automatic trunk release, tilt, cruise, tinted glass, rear defrost, door guards, air conditioning, concert sound with cassette (yes cassette)! Factory original paintwith a mirror reflection. This vehicle was never smoked in, has never seen snow, has only seen rain twice (at car shows and then the original owner detailed it immediately after) This is a highly documented 28,000-mile car with the numbers matching, factory engine. It has a clean and clear title in my name. The air conditioning blows ice cold air, but who really needs it when you have T-Tops! Immaculate undercarriage! He told me that only his grandchildren sat in the back seat ONE time for a car show. No one else! Please view in person. You must see it with the naked eye in direct sunlight! There is NO hiding defects this way! There are NO swirls. This vehicle is a true time capsule. Restoration is not cheap and parts are hard to find, if not impossible!! Try researching stock parts for these cars. I can guarantee you will be hard pressed to find anything. Even aftermarket items aren't cheap when available! The GN is straight as an arrow with NO unwanted sideways pull.Equal and factory correctdoor gaps, hood gaps, trunk gaps throughout. Clean bumper fillers, not cracked. If not painted -the ORIGINALS will fade. The badging is all in excellent condition and is factory original/correct. There is no webbing or checkingin the original paint. It issmooth as polished glassboth visually and by touch! Near mint original interior. Upholstery has no rips or wear. I have a stack of documentation including: original dealer finance paperwork, personalized thank you letter from the dealership, purchase program, installment contract, protection plan, warrantee plan, assistance plan, original title, odometer statement (00004) and service records. It also has the original T-Top covers in the trunk! Take your time and really research the internet on prices. Not just eBay, but other sites and auctions as well. The high selling points of this vehicle are the two owner status, original paint, the year, the options (T-Tops) and the low mileage. Any classic car investor knows that the low miles increase value, but it is also as important on how the vehicle was maintained. Some GNs may have less than 10K miles, but they will be in worse shape from stagnation (lack of driving/no fluids going through them) or bad buff jobs ruining the original paint. The original owner loved this vehicle like a child. He only took it out on beautiful days, never raced it, kept a maintenance record and kept the life blood flowing through it each year (approximately 900 miles a year). He never took it out on hot days to keep the paint in the condition it is now. It blows my mind. Antique status for these GN's have been steadily on the rise for the past few years and haven't stopped. It takes about $60,000 - $80,000 to restore a GN, PLUS the cost of the car. Please note the pictures of the VIN and the trunk codes verify the authenticity that this is a true GN and not a T-Type or a clone. This is clearly a Barrett-Jackson or Mecum car. They would take it on consignment, but I rather sell it this way for now. It saves us both time and money (about 10% buy and 10% sell) and saves me from coordinating covered shipping from a 5-star shipping company (not cheap). You can also view it in person without having to compete with tire-kickers at the big auctions. Quick Stats: 60 mph in 4.9 seconds est. stock. (Ferrari territory) (and faster than the Corvette) 150 mph top speed approximately 125 mph top speed governed 245 hp/355 ft.lb, was closer to 300 hp stock (more than the Corvette in 1987) 3.8L 231 cu.in. V-6 -TURBO -these arebulletproof engines too! 1/4 mile: varies, approx. high 13's-low 14's,@ 95 mph-approx. There were 20,193 Grand Nationals made in 1987, the LAST YEAR! Most desirable and collectible, regardless of production numbers! The numbers on a fully loaded T-Top, an educated guess is 33% and how many in near mint condition, without mods? Not many. It has only seen minutes of daylight since I have owned it, most of which has been for taking pictures. It is always covered up with the #1 rated, breathable car cover to prevent dust from settling on it. The GN spends all itstime in a temperature controlled garage. This car will win car shows. WHAT MISSING PARTS TO WATCH FOR ON OTHER GN's(which this car does have): GN rims, Goodyear Eagle GT tires, original stereo and THE PAINT, which must be original to command above average money. This car is missing nothing but a new home. I have seen, a 40,000-mile original car sell for MORE THAN a 15,000-mile original car because ofcondition and pedigree. A very similar GN just sold on eBay for $60K and many inferior cars are selling for $45K+ I took high definition pictures and could only post 24. I chose my favorite pictures, but am willing to take any additional pictures you’d like to see. I am not hiding anything! I will send any picture requests you have via text or email (after I talk to you in person...I avoid scammers/spammers at all costs). Most of my vehicles have been sold site unseen. To reiterate, I have been on eBay for 20 years (since 1998) with 100% positive feedback. That is unheard of. My rating is very, very important to me, so I want to ensure I am selling you something that makes you happy! I wouldn’t have lasted long if I was selling things that weren’t advertised correctly. Isuggest you see it in person, but you can also bid confidently (sight unseen) because of my eBay history. If you see it in person, you will make an offer on it. I have, in the past accepted offers and ended the auction early. Don’t let this one escape. Trust me, I have missed out on a few rarities trying to save a few thousand dollars and I am still “sick-to-death” over making those poor decisions. $500 deposit to be made by PayPal or wire transfer within 48 hours, unless you come cash in hand. 10 days full payment is due. Only cash or wire transfer accepted. Blame the scammers because they have ruined everything. I also do not need assistance in selling this vehicle, so please don’t contact me in those regards. Although I reserve the right to sell elsewhere, once reserve is met, the car will be sold to the highest bidder!! Even if higher offers come in after the auction ends. The winning bidder is responsible for shipping costs. This GN is located in Des Moines Iowa and is easy to find and easy to load. This is an opportunity for you to own your dream car or make a sound investment (way more secure than the stock market, with way higher returns on investment). What took just a few minutes to read, took me weeks to prepare and over 10 hours finalizing the ad including pictures. Pictures and description are important. I like to sell it as if I were the buyer because I am finicky when it comes to purchasing vehicles. Thank-you for browsing or bidding! As a final note: Read the history of Buick Grand Nationals, check NADA pricing, historic values on Barrett Jackson/Mecum, check other vehicles on eBay, Autotrader and other sites. Why would I share this? Because this vehicle is far superior (which helps me) and an educated buyer is a confident/happy buyer (which helps you). I am very confident in my very reasonable reserve and I am also very confident that you will be overjoyed to own this pristine classic. NADA LOW RETAIL: $12,500 NADA AVERAGE RETAIL: $25,900 NADA HIGH RETAIL: $42,600 This GN should probably be assessed in the low $50Ks (and I guarantee it will be in the next few years), it is definitely worth every penny of the NADA High Retail due to the condition of the vehicle. I placed the reserve below the NADA high retail for a quick sale. As mentioned, a similar one sold for $60K a few weeks ago.
On Aug-18-18 at 11:16:42 PDT, seller added the following information: **Clarification** The exhaust was modified. This was a question from a bidder and I wanted to make sure everyone had the same information. |
