1969 Buick Riviera Embassy Gold / Buckskin Vinyl 7.0L 430ci V8 / ST400 Automatic (360 hp / 475 lb-ft!) Consignment Sale VIDEO WITH LISTING VIN: 494879H941210 4: Buick 94: Riviera 87: 2dr Sport Coupe Hardtop 9: 1969 Model Year H: Flint, Michigan Assembly Plant 941210: Production Number Engine: 430ci V8 (1383424), Correct and Presumed Original Trim: Buckskin Vinyl (686) Paint: Embassy Gold (75) We're selling this beautiful '69 Riviera on behalf of a local gentleman who has owned the car for the last fifteen years. Over the course of his ownership the car has served... as a summertime toy, confined to the garage throughout the winter months. As it sits now, this is a very nice, largely original driver in a great colorway, the Riviera-specific Embassy Gold over Buckskin vinyl. The Exterior: - Please see the video along with the listing, as the car is shown in detail. All blemishes are shown close-up and in direct sunlight. Blemishes include bubbling on the driver's lower door corner and quarter, a dent on the passenger rear quarter, a scratch near the indicator on the same panel, as well as a few chips and little dings scattered about. - Paint is a respray of the correct color. While we don't know exactly when it was painted, it was done to a fairly high standard. Not concours-level, but very good. No visible run, tape lines, or anything like that. The color is fantastic in sunlight. - Wheels and tires are both in nice shape. Polished wheels show no damage or oxidation. Tires are at least ten years old, but show no dry rot and have at least 80% tread remaining. - Chrome is excellent throughout. Nice mirror-like finish, free of any damage or rust. - Glass and light lenses are all clear and crack-free. Power windows all roll up strong and smooth, and windows do seal nicely. While the headlights do light up, unfortunately the vacuum-powered flip-down mechanism is not functional. Signals are all functional. - Top is extremely nice. No real signs of age. - Panel fitment is spot-on and the doors/trunk/hood all open and close nice and smoothly. The Interior: - Again, please defer to the photos and video. Buckskin, a light tan color, vinyl interior is very original and well-preserved. Driver's seat has a missing button on the seat bottom and some minor fraying along the upper bolster, passenger's side is mint, as is the rear. Sills are nice and clean. Door panels are in great shape, with no kicked-open markings and no oxidation on the window controls. Original carpet is in good shape, but does show a little age by way of minor color fade. A nice set of rubber floormats will come with the car as well. - Dash top is excellent. No cracking or other damage. Dash "wood" also presents fairly well, with no hairline cracks or peeling. Odometer reads 77,702, likely correct considering the level of originality throughout, but as it's a 5-digit odometer we cannot be certain that it hasn't rolled over previously. Other gauges are all functional, with the exception of the analog clock. - While the power antenna is functional, the radio is not. An Alpine TDA7564 head unit has been mounted in the glovebox, and an Alpine 12D changer in the trunk. - Heat and fan are functional. R12 air conditioning is not. R12 AC components are still present. All interior courtesy lights are functional. - Headliner is nice and tight. The material on the flat surface under the rear glass is a bit loose though. Under the Hood / Under the Car: - Please take a look at the underbody photos, as the car is documented in detail. The underbody is pretty much what you'd expect from a garage-kept, unrestored, 50 year old car. There's some surface rust on various suspension components, but overall the car is nice and solid. Very much structurally sound; frame rails are rock solid, floors are nice as well. The car was undercoated at some point, as we can see some of that old undercoating peeling away. - While there isn't much for service records, the car will come with a 1969 Buick service manual, and the car did have a recent oil change. Car will also come with front and rear license plate frames from Boulevard Buick/Jaguar of Long Beach, CA, presumably where the car was sold when new. Car is titled in Illinois and, as this is a consignment sale (private party sale), no taxes or other fees are due at purchase. - The car runs and drives really well. It idles cool, steady, and quiet, accelerates through the gears nice and smooth with no hesitation and plenty of gusto, and brakes straight and effectively. The car tracks straight down the road, and powered steering is nice and direct. A comfortable, confidence-inspiring driver.
