Description of 1968 Buick LeSabre Custom |
CONDITION: Overall a great looking& cruising car in original condition with plenty of paperwork to trace its history. I just now registered it so it will have a current transferrable registration should it be sold out of state. Maine does not& will not issue a new title for cars this old. Till now it had been owned by one family. Bought new here in Maine &kept garaged and under a car cover. Exterior: Paint is not perfect but still has a great gloss, there are a few areas where the paint has flaked& bubbled (not from rust). Looks like possibly some or all of the car may have been painted some time ago. Chrome is very bright with little to no pitting& a brilliant shine. Vinyl top is tight with no rips/tears There is some bubbling under the vinyl on the right rear pillar (pictured)Buick wire wheel covers.Floors & frame are all solid with nothing but common typical surface rust. Interior: Seats had blankets on them so they are still in great condition with no rips or tears.Dash has no cracks.AM only radio& clock or both inop.Windows all roll up& down as they should & even the crank out vent windows work well.Large front bench seat is a one piece that slides as it should.Carpets do have some fading/discoloration as can been when you lift up a floor mat esp. on the passenger side where it looks like something spilled& bleached the area. Matching Buick front rubber floor mats.Interior lights all work as does the heat/cooling vent fan.Owner had helped preserve it using mothballs, I'm working on getting that smell removed or at least reduced. Engine/drivetrain: Car has a 350-2 V8 with automatic transmission. New gas tank as well as the carburetor rebuilt so with a few pumps of the gas pedal it starts right up & purrs/growls as it should.Going down the road at 55-60 mph on 15" radial tires is smooth& floats like you'd expect from a land yacht like this. I put it on a truck scale& its 4380 lbs!Just took it in for a Maine State Inspection& passed with the only issue was a high beam headlight out& it was replaced Maine does not analyze the exhaust emissions VIDEOS: YouTube Video will open in a new window PHOTO GALLERY: Please inspect all of the photos, there is a lot of detail to this car so if you don't see it don't assume it, ask!
