Description of 1928 Buick Other |
1928 Buick Brougham, model 28-51, dual sidemount sedan, recently removed from a garage where it was parked in 1949, This is a fact; I spoke with the owner's son. Judging by the dust and junk around the car, I know this is true. All complete, solid wood except for around back corner of top. Very solid with some surface rust. Door pillars and structure very solid. Note good condition of wheel wells and fender edges. I purchased the car with the oil pan off and a missing oil drive/gear assembly. I purchased and installed the parts, installed the pan, and with much work, the motor fired up. Ran well but began pumping coolant into the oil! I suspect the head or the head gasket but not certain. Clearly, this needs to be addressed! Also, the clutch disc is stuck on the flywheel so can will not shift into gear. I was able to start the car, jack up the rear, and shift into gear showing that the wheels turned and the trans worked. Three tires stay inflated, one leaks down after a few hours. All wire wheels and hubcaps in good shape. Hubcap/wheel wrench included in sale.As pictured, there is a rotted out section at the bottom of the rear body behind the trunk. Mice had nested here and their "runoff" rotted the section out. All cleaned out but the damage is there. Wonderful survivor, this huge Buick is waiting for the right person to restore her to her former magnificence. Sorry, no title, only a bill of sale.
