Description of 1972 Buick Riviera 2 Door Boat Tail Hardtop with 25K original |
West Coast Classics are proud to present an exceptionally rare example of this 1972 Buick Riviera 455 4 Bbl V8 2 Door Hardtop in it's original factory 'Sandalwood' (Code 50) color paint with it's original 'Black' (Code B) vinyl roof and with it's all original 'Black' color (trim code 688) vinyl interior with it's original 455 4 barrel V8 engine with believed to be 25K original miles. Factory options including: 455 CID 4 BBL V8 Engine Turbo Hydra-matic Automatic Transmission Air Conditioning ($521) Soft Ray Tinted Glass ($51) Power Windows ($133) AM-FM Stereo ($239) Vinyl Roof ($128) Dual Exhausts Remote Control Outside Mirror Front Bucket Seats Tilt Steering Wheel Power Steering Power Front Disc Brakes Power Door Locks Deluxe Wheel Covers Protective Body Side Moldings Custom Rocker Panel Moldings Electric Clock Glove Box Light Trunk Light Double-Panel Roof Construction Buick's third generation personal luxury car with once controversial, but now increasingly collectible, 'Boat tail' styling lasted for only 3 years (1971-73) with the first two years (1971-72) being the most desirable before the 1973 model's abbreviated boat-tail and undesirable larger 'safety' bumpers. The tapered fastback roof evoked memories of the 1930's Auburn Speedsters and reflected a penchant for retro styling late in the career of GM's legendary styling chief Bill Mitchell. Far more sculptured and far more massive than the earlier Riviera's yet still boasting 0-60mph in under 10 seconds! The car has it's original 'Sandalwood' factory color paint and 'Black' Vinyl roof and also boasts it's all original 'Black' interior including the dashboard, steering wheel, carpets and seats. It's original spare wheel and jack are in the trunk. Recently purchased from a local California collector with no signs of any accidents or rust with the floor boards, trunk and all the typically rust-prone areas completely solid and rust free - obviously a most likely always garaged driver since new and with a believed to be an original 25K miles. The '455' 4 barrel V8 engine is extremely strong and powerful and the suspension is tight and smooth and the steering is excellent. All the power options are working as they should. This is a great opportunity to own a great daily driving example of a very original survivor and a rust and accident free 1972 Buick Riviera, with Boat Tails now becoming harder to find in such fine unabused and all original condition and becoming more desirable than ever before, this is a great opportunity to own a highly desirable and collectible example of one of the outstanding GM designs of the early seventies, a fun investment that's sure to appreciate over the years for any classic American muscle car collector or simply any Buick enthusiast looking for a nice daily driving third generation Riviera! |
