Description of 1976 Buick Century |
You are bidding on a 1976 Buick Century Special Landau (also called the Buick Special). It has 60,900 original miles on it. It is mostly original minus a couple details (mentioned later in the listing). The original owner had it until 2018 when it was purchased and has sat there ever since. It has not been modified from the original owner (which is why it technically has 2 owners). The car is equipped with a 231 cubic inch, 3.8 Litre V-6 Motor and a 3-Speed Turbo-Hydramatic Automatic Transmission. In 1976, the Buick Century offered a trim option called the Special. It is a basic model with manual locks, manual windows, and an AM radio. It has the original manual, window sticker and EPA information!! It has manual locks, manual windows, no AC and no Cruise Control. All of the electronics work properly in the vehicle including gauges, switches, radio, fan, heat, wipers, lights, turn signals, and interior lighting. The white landau top is in immaculate shape. No rips, tears, wearing, or peeling. It’s amazing how nice it looks. (I cleaned it up a little too!) Just did an oil change, fluid check, brake check, and engine top cleaning (seafoam intake and engine treatment). The paint is all original except a couple spots that I listed below. The car looks great. The interior is in incredible shape for being original. No tears in the seats, no sagging headliner, no torn carpeting, no large cracks in the dash (small one near driver door on the corner). There is some expected fading as it is red and is 44 years old. I wouldn’t hesitate to pic this car up and drive it across the country. It stays within temp, drives nice, shifts smooth, and is a really nice ride. It could use a carburetor tune up and idle adjustment. Once it’s warmed up, it runs fine. Struggles a bit when it’s cold out but isn’t driven during the winter. There are a few things that need some attention: There as some old body work on both sides on the rear quarter right by the tire (in pictures). The color doesn’t match 100% and you can see a little of it through the paint. The rear chrome bumper has some rust near the bottom (pictured). The front grille has some chipping on the plastic (expected for a car this age). Someone tried to fix some surface rust near the landau top and didn’t match the paint 100%. Engine runs great-no ticks, knocks, etc - there is a small noise when reving in park but goes away while driving (I had this issue with an old firebird and it never amounted to anything). The interior fan (blower) is noisy - can be replaced easily for $75 and it takes 10 minutes. The power brakes are working great but need some adjustment. Nothing major. No leaks. |
