Description of 1957 Buick Riviera 56R |
1957 Buick Super 56R. Body is very solid and original. Only small body rust is driver side rocker. Original paint and patina. Chrome is fair some pieces better than others. Floors are decent with some pinholes. Trunk has golf ball size rust holes. Interior is original (with maybe the exception of the seat covers?). It is worn as to be expected. Dash gauges work with the exception of the speedo. Original radio inop.Heater core is disconnected although it does hold pressure. Factory power steering, power brakes and power seat all working. All lights work both interior and exterior. All windows intact and working. Windshield is cracked. Power is provided by a freshened up LG4 305 Chevy / TH400 trans.New stainless headers with dual exhaust and stock mufflers. Newer C-10 trailing arms rear suspension setup.New front and rear (air) shocks. Stock rear with 3.08 gearing. No smoke and no fluid leaks. Runs and shifts well. Cooling system is a large aluminum rad with 18 inch puller fan on thermo switch. Runs very cool. Original gas tank has been replaced with 15 gallon fuel cell. Original gas gauge adapted to work. New rally wheels are 15x10 rear with 275/60/15 tires. Front are 15x7 with 225/70/15 tires. New wheel cylinders all around. New soft brake hoses and hard lines to rear.Front bearings repacked. It cruises well to the local car shows and get alot of attention as a 1950s era rat rod type. Ran a 200 plus mile round trip to Ocean City Maryland Cruisin' OCMD car show in the fall with no issues.
