1956 Buick Special 2-door hardtop! 1956 Buick Special Two-Door Hardtop Riviera Model With Extra Parts You are viewing a privately owned 1956 Buick Special 2-Door Hardtop Riviera model! Classic Cars Online is helping the owner with  the presentation and listing of this vehicle. You will be purchasing this vehicle directly from the private owner. The current owner has owned this vehicle  since 2006. It only has 84K original miles on it. It is a "Stick" car. (Three speed manual on the tree. ) Mechanically. the vehicle is in great condition and  can be driven anyway. It is a complete car that would make a good candidate for a restoration project that also comes along with a lot of extra items and parts.     Please read and view all of the 87 pictures listed in the photo gallery. Body & Paint: Body received one repaint many years ago in its original color scheme (Paint Code: CMC "Dover White. Seminote Red. Dover White. ") The body has rust in the typical  areas. The front two fenders are very solid. The lower rocker panels may be weak. (The owner has new inner rockers that will go with the sale. ) Don't know about any  bondo or previous rust issues.     Chrome & Trim: Still original chrome and trim. All there with pitting on most pieces. but still good cores for rechroming. Front bumper is bent on driver's side. (Have extra front  and rear bumpers that will go with the car. )  The factory stainless steel trim is still on the car. Some will need to be straightened and buffed. Interior: Original Black/Red interior. The front and rear seats were re-done using the correct original Buick material. The carpet was also replaced. (Missing passengers side  sill plate. ) The rest of the interior is The oil dash gauge was disconnected and replaced with an under dash gauge. A horn button was added in the dash. (Steering  wheel horn button doesn't work. ) The owner has another complete dash assembly for the vehicle. The clock was working when it was unplugged. The radio needs work. It  works sometimes. but goes in and out. (Has an extra Sonomatic radio also. ) Engine Compartment: The engine compartment was power washed and painted black when the engine was rebuilt. Stock 1956 322 Cu. In Buick V-8 engine. (See Mechanical section for more  details. ) Edelbrock 4-barrel with electric choke. Original working horns. New hoses. belts. plugs wires. factory radiator was rebuilt along with the heater core and  "Y" heater valve was replaced. "Buick" 425 finned valve covers were installed to dress up the compartment. (The original valve covers will go along with the car. )  Trunk Compartment: Original. Solid trunk pans. One rust hole on right side by spare tire. Spare wheel was repainted and has a new radial tire that matches the other four tires. Original  jack and jacking tools.   Chassis - Frame & Undercarriage: For the most parts. the floor pans are solid. There is a small rust hole (Silver dollar size) under the rear seat area. The rear inner wheel wells are split. The fuel  tank was redone and resealed along with a new internal float.   Glass: All original. Everything works fine except the right rear window is hard to roll up and down. The driver's wing window is cracked. The windshield has some scratches.   The rear window is in good condition.   Wheels & Tires: The rims were upgraded to wider 7" Roadmaster wheels. They were sandblasted. primed. and painted. New valve steams with newer Goodyear Treadsetter P215/75/15 radials  tires with about 800 miles on them. An extra set of 5 B. F. Goodrich Silvertown 760x15" 4 ply wide white wall polyester tires go along with the vehicle. The car  currently has a set of '55 Buick spinner hubcaps installed.  The owner also has a set of "Dog Dish" hubcaps with beauty rings for the vehicle. Mechanical: Engine: This original engine was rebuilt about two years ago and has around 500 miles on it. It starts and runs great. It was bored and sleeved to stock specs.  New cam and  valves. (Harden seats and stainless valve. Can use un-leaded gas now. ) All new internal parts. Pistons. rings. bearings. oil pump. etc. The block was decked 4  thousandths. heads were shaved 5 thousandths. Rebuilt distributor with internal Petronic ignition. Rebuilt alternator. (Original generator comes with vehicle. ) New  battery in 2014. A new electric fuel pump was added in the fall of 2014. Transmission - Rear End: The factory three speed manual transmission was gone over the same time the engine was rebuilt. (Owner also has an extra 3-sp manual "Stick" transmission. ) A new 3000  pound pressure plate with 3 prong. clutch. and throw out bearing was installed. The rear end received a new carrier bearing and seal. We think the rear end ratio is  2. 90:1   Brakes: Added dual master cylinder with power brake booster. Rebuilt wheel cylinders. Brake system is working great. Suspension: The front end was rebuilt with new kingpins and new springs. Replaced all four shocks with GM gas shocks. The rear also received new heavy duty springs. The car sits  and drives great.   Exhaust: Newer dual exhaust system that sounds great. No problems. Stick. 3 speed manual transmission. original rebuilt master cylinder by White Post VA. . rebuilt factory generator. factory valve covers. rebuilt dist. Mallory dual point. inner and outer 18 gauge rockers for both sides. 5-bias ply white wall tires. dash/instrument assembly. front and rear bumpers. grille bar with emblem. and some chrome interior parts.
