Here is my 1974 Cadillac Calais Coupe. I boughtthis car about one year ago fromthe son of the original owner. At that time myintensions were to Plasti-dip the car, dd some flames or scallops, pider caps than lower it a bit. Around that same time I also bought a cool custom van and I ended up spending my time playing with that van instead. The Cadillac just sat for the past 12 months waiting her turn. Fast forward to just last week, bought an old truck that will be getting my attention now and so the Cadillac will just be sitting some more. I figured it might take another 12 months before I get to the Cadillac so instead of her just waiting longer, aybe nows the time to sell. So here we are. I've had this ride for about a year now and only driven her maybe 5 miles or so during that time. Before I bought her she sat for quite a while as well. Over the past year I've only done a few things to her like installed a new wiper motor and good used wiper switch. I've also replaced the burnt dash lights. The filler panel on the rear, hich came from a blue car was replaced since the original was cracked and deteriorated. So despite how nice of a driver this Cadillac is, he doesneed a few things. - The exhaust is rusty and will need to be patched or replaced. She's loud for a Cadillac but not overly loud or obnoxious. The sound and volume is more like having Turbo mufflers.
- The power antenna is missing. The wiring is there but the antenna is not.
- The transmission leaks. I ran the car to my mechanic last month and he said the external modulator valve has a rod that attaches to some component inside the transmission and the seal on this rod is leaking.
- The fuel gauge doesn't work and is stuck on "E".
- The fan motor blows on Low only and no other setting. The heat works fine and blows hot, t's just that the motor blows on the low setting continuously.
The car runs and drives very nicely. She has also started up easily even after sitting for weeks or months. The choke sets perfectly, he engine runs smooth, he transmission shiftsseamlessly, he brakes are strong, tops are straight and with no wobble or warpagefrom the rotors. The ride is buttery smooth and she just floats over bumps and Smart cars like theyaren't even there. From what I can tell, he is all original from paint, hrome, nterior and drive train.
