This super cool ‘61 Caddy is stunning and turns heads no matter where it goes. Whether it’s parked out front of your favorite coffee shop in the morning, r at the steak house on a fine summer evening, his one will have a crowd gathered around it every time. These convertibles are becoming harder and harder to find in decent condition; not to mention the cost and time it takes to have one restored. But hey, hy go through that when you have the rare opportunity to grab the one in front of you. Every once in a while, real nice road-ready one shows up, nd they never seem to last long around here. So make the call and you’ll have the wind blowing through your hair as you lumber down the highway in this big black Caddy, etting the “Thumbs Up” sign from everyone in passing. In 1961, he Cadillac series 62 was restyled and re-engineered. The new grille was slanted back towards both the bumper and the hood lip, long the horizontal plane, nd sat between dual headlamps. The forward slanting front pillars with non-wraparound windshield glass were seen for the first time. Revised backlight treatment had crisp angular lines with thin pillars on some models and heavier semi-blind quarter roof posts on others. Standard equipment for 1961 included power brakes, ower steering, utomatic transmission, ual back up lights, indshield washer, ual speed wipers, heel discs, lain fender skirts, utside rearview mirror, anity mirror and oil filter. Rubberized front and rear coil springs replaced the trouble prone air suspension system from the earlier years. Four-barrel induction systems were now the sole power choice. These cars would tip the scales with a curb weight of 4560 Lbs, nd were 222” long, nd a fully loaded car would cost just over $6,000.00 in 1961 (that was a lot of money back then). Just a quick rundown on this big Cadillac Convertible: This is a body on restoration, nd looks to have been completed a few years ago. Painted in a beautiful and mirror-like base coat clear black, ith a nothing short of stunning job done on the red interior. They topped all of that off by stretching a new convertible top on it and complemented that by adding a very expensive set of Kelsey Hays wires wheels to set it all off. They also did an outstanding job on the chrome and trim, hich just makes all of it come together in one incredible GM work of art. Our team has gone over this car and we have invested a small fortune in getting the air conditioning to work, s well as checking everything out to make sure the rest of the car is in working “show room” condition. From the power steering and power brakes, o the power front seat and power windows, e ensure that this beauty is ready to hit the road. Known defects: The power Antenna has been tested and works, ut will only work with the radio. The radio is not working at this time and we have decided not to repair it since most of our customers end up installing aftermarket sound systems that are hidden in the glove box. Commonly, hese 390 big block Cadillac’s are known to leave a few drops of oil on your garage floor. This car is no exception and is normal for the old style rear rope seals. The auto release emergency brake doesn’t auto release as it was designed to. You’ll need to manually pull the release handle if you’re the type that likes to use the “E” brake. Overall, his big black boat of a Cadillac is everything a Cadillac should be; large and luxurious, emanding attention and respect whenever it barrels down the highway. With a beautiful restoration, uper straight body, nd a fresh looking interior, ou will not be disappointed to drive this convertible around this upcoming summer. Whether it be a cruise night, ar show, r just a weekend drive with the top down, ou’ll easily turn heads as the sun glimmers off the all the striking chrome this car has. As nice as these photos are… pictures don’t even do this car justice.
