Description of 1981 Cadillac Eldorado NADA VALUE is $4200 for a car in this condition !! |
1981 Cadillac Eldorado 2 Door Coupe - - -VIN # 1G6AL5794BE62389 - ONLY 16 DIGITS and the eBay listing would not accept THIS CORRECT VIN IDENTIFICATION NUMBER !!!! 368 / 6.0 – 4 / 6 / 8 - Fuel Injected V8 – FWD (front wheel drive) LOW MILEAGE - ONLY 132k miles - 3rd owner since June of 1991 (Driven less than 14,000 miles in 25 years ) NO noticeable DENTS / never any accidents to my knowledge Matching WAXBERRY PAINT /LEATHER interior / Vinyl top LOADED WITH MOST factory OPTIONS including FACTORY CADILLAC ALLOY / aluminum mag wheels – I’ve seen them sell USED online for as much as $125 each !!!– NO SUNROOF Service records are available – always ran well and never used oil between changes, when driven on a ‘regular basis’. - It most recently had the fuel pump replaced. Sold STRICTLY AS IS - it has NOT been inspected / MD INSPECTION NOT NEEDED IF HISTORIC TAGS are used !!!---------------------------NADA "Low Value" for this car is $4200.00 - as of 03 23 16 -------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I purchased this car in 1991, and at ten years of age, it STILL looked like NEW back then. It had 119k on the speedometer and the ‘overall appearance’ looked MORE as though it was ONLYnineteen thousand miles !!! I owned SEVERAL OTHER VEHICLES at the time, so this car was just ‘bought as a toy’ – NOT as an ‘everyday driver’. It WAS driven on a ‘semi-regular’ basis for the first few years, and has ever since (unfortunately) sat outside in the elements, barely ever driven - and it definitely shows. Since these photos were taken, a bit more of the 'plastic filler panels' between the sheet metal and the bumpers has disintegrated even further. It NOW has only 132,245 on it, but HAS deteriorated quite a bit - due to being SELDOM DRIVEN (and not garaged)for all these past 25 years. It still starts, runs, and drives, BUT, should have (in my opinion) a complete restoration. It has only ever been driven in snow/ salt TWICE since 1991 and has very little rust that I’m aware of (there IS some rust-through under the trunk lid in the area near where the vinyl roof meets the body and corrosion on the INSIDE bottoms of both doors). In the late 90’s, The ORIGINAL headliner was still in ‘nearly perfect condition’, but starting to sag a bit, so I had it replaced. Turns out, the ‘new’ headliner was a ‘worthless piece of crap’ and has now, TOTALLY disintegrated !!!! – I still have the ‘original’ cloth that was removed - and it still looks like new –compared to the one ‘now in place’. When I purchased this car, I would have had absolutely NO reservations about driving it ‘cross-country’from here in Maryland ALL THE WAY to California, but now, even though it IS currently TAGGED and driven 'occasionally', I would plan on ‘trailering or towing it’ - IF purchased 'any considerable distance' from Cumberland Maryland. I know it will need a new heater core (it was leaking and I just had my mechanic by-pass it), it may also need a radiator repair / and / or new hoses ‘in the near future. The tread on the tires (which WERE new and driven VERY few miles) are almost perfect, but they ARE older Kelly Springfield(Goodyear) NAVIGATOR 'GOLD' Radials - and one of them kept losing air, so I replaced it with a good (non-matching) 'usedtire' – the forth 'navigator' is now in the trunk – I don’t think the spare has ever been used. I have all of the service records since 1991 - and also some that came with the car when I purchased it. The body is decent and ‘overall’ pretty much 'dent n nick free', but unfortunately the car spent several months parked on the street one winter, and where the salt truck threw salt on the hood, trunk and roof – there are now tiny surface rust spots. The dash has also cracked. The rest of the interior is pretty nice for it’s age, with the exception of the drivers seat. It’s ‘fully loaded’, with the exception of a sun roof. The RARE 'factory Cadillac' alloy 'mag wheels’ are also in pretty decent shape. I absolutely despised the fake ‘wire caps’ that came as standard equipment on these cars, since they tended to 'rattle' In myopinion.. I know the HVAC needs attention, the cruise has NEVER worked since I’ve owned the car, and factory AM / FM radio works ‘sporadically’- italso has a factory8 track tape player. This would be a FANTASTIC ‘driveable’ PARTS CAR, – OR – probably a decent ‘beater / daily driver’ - - -IF you are 'mechanically inclined', OR willing to spend a few dollars to make it truly ‘road worthy’. I think the 1979 to 1985 is one of theMOST ATTRACTIVEbody styles that the Eldorado's ever had - I’d previously owned a 1980 Victoria Plum Firemist (burgundy) Biarritz with white leather - that was an absolute BEAUTY, and also a 1981 triple SHEFFIELD GRAY sunroof coupe, ‘back in the day’, and THEY were both driven daily and FANTASTIC ‘snow cars’.I'd also includemy 1972 Convertible with the 8.2 L 500 CID engine in that 'great in snow' catagory. I’ve since driven a new fully loaded ‘4-WHEEL’ drive Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited, and these old front wheel drive eldo’s would go ANYWHERE I've ever attempted to take the Jeep – with EQUALLY good results. My ‘90 FWD Seville, on the other hand wasn’t nearly as good in snow, as the older 'pre 1986' Front Wheel Drive Eldorado.---The car is located in Cumberland, Maryland (US route 40) - about 37 miles south of Bedford / US 220(Bedford Exit off the Pennsylvania turnpike) or Berlin / MeyersdalePa. (160 or 219). It’s about midway between I-81 and I-79 (about 65 mileswest ofHagerstown MD via I-70 / I-68, and approximately 70 mileseast ofMorgantown WV) just off I-68. --- ONCE AGAIN, THIS CADILLAC IS BEING SOLD “STRICTLY AS IS / WHERE IS”– WITH ‘ABSOLUTELY NO GUARANTEE’ OR ‘WARRANTY OF ANY KIND’ A DEPOSIT of $250.00 REQUIRED FROM THE WINNING BIDDER WITHIN 48 HOURS VIA PayPal - - - FULL PAYMENT / Balance due is required within 7 days of auction's close.– NO CHECKS ACCEPTED (personal or cashier) UPON PICK-UP. - - - OR, if you choose to ‘have it shipped’ - your payment (in the form of a CASHIER or BANKCHECK - ‘MUST CLEAR MY BANK’ - before titleAND car will be released for transportation.
