Description of 1993 Cadillac Allante Convertible |
Beautiful example of the Cadillac Allante. This was the final year of the Allante and the only year to include the nearly 300 horsepower, all aluminum, dual overhead cam, 32 valve, V8 from Cadillac. This car has all options available at the time, except that it is a soft top car - no hardtop. Does have fully functional digital dash. I think the pearlescent paint was an $800 option on top of a car that was already -$60k! The Allante was sold in relatively low numbers, with only 4,000 units produced in 1993. This Allante is the rarest of the rare...check out the amazing tri-coat pearl flax paint. There were only 88 cars made in this color. If you are a collector, this car has it all for you: arguably the best year, low mileage, low humidity Colorado / Oregon car, numbers matching, and dressed in the rarest paint color offered. History from previous owner I purchased the car in 2005 from an elderly gentlemen in South Florida; he purchased and registered it in Wisconsin and sold it to me with just over 27,000 miles. According to the seller, he was the original owner and the car had not been wrecked or structurally damaged. I obtained a CarFax which appeared to support his claim. He bought the car for his wife in 1993 who had since died. According to him, it had set up, garaged, undriven, for a number of years. The security system had been disabled and did not work, and neither did the CD player. Upon purchase, I immediately had the car detailed; the radiator flushed; the transmission oil changed; and battery, belts, hoses, and tires replaced with a thorough inspection performed by a Cadillac dealership service department and any needed repairs performed at that time. I had the security system replaced with an aftermarket one and also replaced the standard wheels with after-market American Cragar mags to give what I considered a more appealing appearance. (See photos; the original wheels are also available and included.) I also had the carpet replaced to more attractively match the seats and other interior burgundy colors (the original floor carpet was a clashing bright red, matching the trunk carpet). Between 2005 and 2010, I drove the car occasionally on weekends just to keep its juices flowing, putting about 3,500 more miles on it during that time. In late 2010 the car became my everyday- driven vehicle with just over 52,300 on it now. I have regularly maintained the car (synthetic oils changes, battery replaced in March 2015.) including other replacement of parts necessary resulting from normal age and wear [including engine control module (ECM); ABS module; motor mount gaskets; AC compressor; radiator; rack and steering repairs and parts replacements; shocks & struts; window regulators and pw switches; muffler (giving it a throaty El Dorado sound); wiper blades; antenna.] I have maintenance records. Because it has been driven (but not abused), in all honesty, the car is not “Show Room” condition as some described on eBay. It has been well-taken care of and in much better condition than most other cars its age. Other than normal exterior scrapes and scratches (remember, the car is 22+ years old), the car has never been wrecked during my ownership. I have had very small dents and dings removed and cosmetic paint professionally applied when necessary (a small ding remains in chrome strip on front bumper). In October 2014, I had the seats recovered to original factory condition. The manual top is in very good condition but the weatherproofing rubber strips around the windows and doors are showing signs of aging wear and need replacing (the desert air can contribute to those sort of things). With the exception of the CD player, the car is in very good mechanical condition. I continually get favorable comments and complements about its appearance, cleanliness, and condition from strangers who see the car and approach me in curiosity. I have done the best to describe the car as I have it. The car is in Southern Oregon and very roadworthy The tires have about 9,000 miles on them. As an investment, speculators give it high marks. If you are mechanically inclined and savvy, the car can be fund to tinker with. However, original equipment replacement parts are hard to find; I suggest the online Tom Ratner’s Allante Shop in San Diego for rebuilt ones. Current History Vehicle has been garaged and driven occasionally weekends for the past two years, all gauges and mechanical s work as they should with the exception of the a/c unit.
