1987 CADILLAC ALLANTE 78K ORIGINAL MILES!! OBTAINED FROM A MASSIVE WAREHOUSE COLLECTION!! As the 70’s came to a close, Cadillac was losing the race to Mercedes and Jaguar in the personal luxury convertible market. In the early 80’s Cadillac brought back the convertible in the Eldorado platform, but that still did not compete with Jag and Benz. So Cadillac took their task to an Italian builder by the name of Pininfarina. They wanted a two seater, v8 roadster with unique styling but wanted the styling to encompass all Cadillac stood for in design. The Allante was introduced in 1986. The most unusual way these bodies were shipped to Detroit was by specially equipped Boeing 747s. They could carry 56 bodies at a time and total production of the Allante from 1986-1993 were only 21000 for all 8 years. These Cadillacs are becoming harder to find in this condition and become increasing in value as the years go on. This particular 1987 Allante was purchased from an estate collection were the car sat in a warehouse for many years. The collector had recently passed and was an all or nothing purchase. Please read on to find out the condition of this vehicle. Exterior: As you can see from the pictures, the vehicle presents in excellent condition. The car received a full detail after purchase and as you can see looks beautiful. The color combination was the best offered in the Allante production and is the pearl white with the red wine interior. The body is solid and straight. The tires are older but in new condition. The wheels are intact and all glass and marker lenses are in excellent condition. The top looks extremely well but will need a rear latch to clip to the body. Operates and functions. Please look at the pictures and let us know of any questions. Interior: The interior is virtually in new condition. Literally looks like no one has sat in it. All gauges seem to work properly. There are no cracks or rips and the carpet is in excellent condition. The power options work as well, but we didn’t go through it that thoroughly. Radio did not turn on. Please look at all the pictures and let us know of any questions you may have. Drive-Train: The 4.1 runs and drives. We would recommend a thorough tune up and fresh oil change. We literally put a battery in it and it started right up. It will need a new tailpipe. The brakes stop the car, but like we said, you must go over the car before making any trip expectations. Let us know of any questions you may have. In summation, this car is an excellent, inexpensive project that would be great to enjoy, collect and show off. Very low production numbers and the top going down drives up the collector value considerably. Please call with questions |
