Description of 1940 Cadillac Fleetwood 60 Special |
This 1940 Cadillac 60 Special is a beautiful survivorcar. The last year for Cadillac to feature the dual side-mount spares! It is a wonderful driving car. Starts well and that big 346 CI flathead V8 purrs like a kitten. The carburetor looks to be new. The engine shows well and there are no problems under the hood. There has been a battery disconnect switch added on the firewall. It is accessible from the inside passenger side. So, one doesn’t have to open the hood to disconnect the battery. The transmission shifts smoothly and the car steers well, of course. The Fleetwood body was repainted some years ago in the original scheme ofChickory Green Metallic-Upper and Evergreen Metallic-Lower withChickory Green Wheels. The car shows well and the car paint has few imperfections. This car has had a very easy life. Shows about 74,000 miles which I assume to be correct. The wide white wall tires are knee deep in tread. Original hub caps with accenting Cadillac trim rings set off the tires. The interior has been correctly redone and all looks well except the front carpet shows some wear. Dashboard and steering wheel are nice. All the gauges work except I haven't been able to get the Temp gauge to function. I have just rebuilt all the brake cylinders and replaced the front shoes, so it stops well. The story - I am a retired car guy and have a friend that is a car dealer. So I bought this car on his dealer license through an estate liquidation. So I am not really a dealer. The collection was in El Paso for years. I have spent the last 3 months getting the car up on its feet in my spare time. This is a sweet car and will make someone a treasure. Questions are invited if rational. No checks of any kind will be accepted. No stupid money games please! Cash or electronic bank transfer accepted for payment. PayPal deposit of $1,000, due upon purchase, will hold the car for 5 days. Balance due then or deposit will be forfeited and car will be relisted for sale. Of course I will assist with car shipping on this end but all expense of shipping is on the purchaser. I live in NE Texas. Larry Priest 903-571-5230
