Description of 1964 Cadillac DeVille |
A GORGEOUS 1964 DeVille Convertible. This is my own personal 1964 Deville Convertible. It is an older restoration, done in the late 90s and it has held up nicely. The Shoreline Gold polyurethane paint still shines and the prep work was really good- it's a straight car. The rechromed front and rear bumpers still look really nice. The white vinyl interior has held up nicely with no major rips or tears. While the nearly 20 year old restoration does show the effects of time- there are four or five areas where the paint has chipped and have been filled in,a few cracks in the clear coat, the dash plastics are all older and somewhat faded, and there is some chipping of the upper dash cap- the car gets nothing but thumbs up and shouts of "Nice Car!!" The monster 429 was just recently tuned and runs INCREDIBLE- the car is "Cadillac Smooth" and fires right up and pulls great. The transmission is not leaking and shifts effortlessly. There are no noises from the rear end, the suspension works great and the car stops on a dime. The previous owner told me the motor and trans were rebuilt when the car was painted, and the way it drives confirms this. The 18 year old convertible top has no major rips or tears but does show some discoloration. The top motors DO WORK but need some help to put the top up from the closed position. Putting the top down works OK. The A/C system was charged last season and worked fine, but this year it appears the Climate Control dash unit has failed- rebuilts are around $300. (I just keep the top down!) The original AM/FM radio is present but non functional- there is a Kenwood CD player in the dash and an under dash speaker system to keep the tunes flowing. This is such a pretty car that it has even been used in numerous ad campaigns, including a bunch of national ads including a recent one for Slick brand electric guitars. The best part of the car is how solid it is. I bought it from Arizona and it shows. The underside is SOLID with no rot, and the the car is nice and straight with no visible rust. I am selling this car at no reserve. I have lost my storage and only had 3-4 months to get down to a reasonable number of cars in my collection! I think some minor expenditures- new top motor, a bit of paint detailing and fix the A/C and you have a rock-solid car worth close to $40K! I am trying to sell this car locally as well- so I reserve the right to end this auction if a suitable offer is received. |
