| For sale is one ( 1 ) 1968 Cadillac Coupe DeVille. This is a running and driving car. Needs restoration, but I have been enjoying driving all summer long while working on it. Since I have owned this Cadi for the last 3 or 4 years I have replaced the convertible top to prevent leaking. Replaced the carburetor, front disc brake pads, new plugs, wires, replaced brake booster and oil pan. New valve cover gaskets and replaced the U-Joints on the drive shaft. As mentioned, in my time of owning her I have been focusing on the mechanical aspects of getting her in top running condition. Though there is much more to do, I have gotten a good start. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. I have taken a good group of photos, if you would like more photos or photos of a different area please let me know, I will do my best to reply quickly. In the table below I will attempt to break down the good points, the bad points and the downright ugly. This is a running and driving Cadillac, however please keep in mind that to be a show car, it really needs a full restoration. The Good: | Options | Power Windows Power Roof Power Seats Front Disc Brakes Tilt/Telescoping Steering Wheel | | | New or Replaced Parts | New Edelbrock Carburetor New Front Disc Brake Pads Rebuilt Power Brake Booster Original Replacement Oil Pan New U-Joints for Drive Shaft New Convertible Top New Valve Seals | VIN | F8140421 | Mileage | 36571 Miles on a 5-Digit Odometer | Additional Info: Carb, Plugs, Wires, Valve Seals, Brake Pads, Brake Booster and Convertible top were replaced by me and my mechanic friend. Oil Pan and U-Joints were done a my local garage. I am assuming that the mileage has rolled over in the cars lifetime. | The Bad: | Mechanical | Power Seats do not work -Rusted Track Antenna Missing Dash Lights need new fuse Steering is "Loose" Reverse Gear is Difficult to Find Driver Door opens from outside only. Could use a tune up. | Cosmetic | White Leather Interior Needs Cleaning Patch on Drivers Side Arm Rest Needs Paint Job | Additional Info: The missing antenna, fuse for dash lights and the drivers side door handle not working are small items that should be an easy fix. Power seat may need new tracks and I am not sure why reverse gear is hard to find, but it does function. When I say "steering is loose" I mean that it wobbles a bit on the road. | The Ugly: | Overall | Missing patch of carpet in back seat. Surface rust on back seat floor under missing carpet Front fenders have rust holes. Pin size rust holes showing up in body. Trunk missing lock key (hinged emblem intact) Trunk floor has surface rust. | Additional Info: When I first bought this Cadi there was a hole in the back corner of the convertible top which is what caused some of the spots you see on the seats and the surface rust to the floor. I am not sure why the carpet patch was taken up. This convertible top has a water sill that runs the length of the trunk, this was damaged and allowing moisture into the trunk which caused the surface rust shown in the trunk floor. Convertible top is a two part system, glass window is attached to the frame independent of the remainder of the top. This window was not replaced with the rest of the top but may need to be as some rain still ends up in the back well. | In the above information and in the photos provided, I attempt to point out the good stuff and the bad. I do my best to describe things accurately, but may have missed something. Please ask all questions you can think of before making a purchase. This is by no means a show car (although I have taken it to a show a few summers ago), it is in need of a full restoration. It is a great candidate for a full restoration or just have driving it and working on things at your own pace as I have for the last few years. |
