Description of 1959 Cadillac Fleetwood |
1959 CADILLAC FLEETWOOD, sold new in Pueblo, Colorado and the car stayed in Pueblo for 59 years until we recently bought it and brought it to our restoration shop in Phoenix, Arizona. The car belonged to a collector who bought mostly very nice cars (mostly old Cadillac's) and parked them and let them sit, some for over 40 years. When he passed away we bought this cool Fleetwood from the estate. As the car had been sitting for an unknown number of years we have spent a lot of time and money getting it up and running.Rebuilt brakes, we removed and cleaned out and reinstalled the fuel tank, new tires, we replaced the cracked windshield, we had the dash pad recovered by an upholsterer. We also located and installed the hard to find potmetal Fleetwood trim panel on the decklid since the original panel was broken. We had new keys made and the Cadillac has the correct ignition with key and it also does lock the driver side door! We did get the car running but after a while the engine lost compression, broken rings or something else, we are not sure right now?So we pulled a great running engine out of a 1959 Coupe DeVille we are restoring that ran and drive very well and installed both the engine and trans in the Fleetwood. So the Fleetwood is again a nice running and driving and functioning car, the body has almost no rust at all needing welding (bottom of the right front fender and a small spot on the right side rear Fleetwood large panel is all we have found). The left front fender had a dent that we did a quickey straightening job on and while the fender was off we cut out the very minor rust at the bottom and welded in fresh metal there. All done without adding any bondo or paint, don't want a painted fender while the rest of the car has sunburned original paint. The body is very good to excellent, most chrome is excellent to fantastic, the car runs great, paint has enough patina to last for a long time and the seats, carpet and headliner are dry.Several of the side windows are cracked, we sell new auto glass for old cars so we can sell new windows if a buyer want them. One fender skirt is missing so at least right now the car has one fender skirt, if you have the left one for sale, please contact me at bo@arizonaclassic.com We'll see if the Fleetwood will sell as is, if not we are going to redo the seats, install a new carpet and replace the headliner and then raise the price accordingly. As far as options, the Fleetwood has power windows, power seat, power vent windows, A/C etc. The Cadillac is at our shop in downtown Phoenix and it can be seen and inspected there anytime, 8AM to 5PM Monday to Friday. As you can see in my pictures the car has bad original paint but mechanically it is good, the chrome is excellent, and it runs and drives. Personally I would not paint it but we'll let the next owner decide on that! The Fleetwood has a clear Arizona title. We recommend inspection before bidding. We have sold old cars and parts, almost only on export for the last 32 years so export to pretty much any place on the globe is never a problem but of course we also sell in the US and Canada. Please ask questions early during the auction, we might not be able to respond at the very last moment before the end of the auction. Please ask questions if you have any before bidding. And lastly, PLEEEEEESE don't bid unless you are willing and able to pay should you be the winning bidder, A $2000 deposit is due within 24 hours through Paypal, the balance is due within 7 days. We are open to offers on the car (that's why it's on eBay) so please don't ask what's my "bottom dollar" or "best price", if you like the Fleetwood you are welcome to give an offer. |
