Description of 1960 Cadillac DeVille coupe |
Up for sale is a very unique 1960 Cadillac Coupe DeVille. This car has recently gone through an extensive restoration with very close details paid to every aspect of the build. The drive train is believed to be its original 390 V8 (6.4 Liter) Engine matched with its 4-Speed Hydra-Matic Automatic Transmission. It runs very well with a smooth idle and starts effortlessly. It also shifts through its gears without hesitation and downshifts beautifully. When at idle or at driving speeds, the car is cooled by a custom 3-Row Aluminum Radiator with dual electric fans, insuring stress free motoring. The shop that worked on the suspension is a custom Air-Ride Specialty Shop and subsequently custom-fit this Caddy with the very best Air-Ride equipment available to sample their abilities. Since the car has been in our possession the Air ride system, along with its on-board compressor and Accu Air Controller have worked flawlessly without hesitation every time. Now with that being said, most Air-Ride systems are built to drop the cars on the ground and raise them instantly to clear obstacles and perform well at driving speeds, the only problem is they tend to be bouncy and ride stiff, due to removing the coil springs and shocks and replacing them with the Air-Bags. Although the car looks absolutely amazing sitting on the ground, the ride was too bouncy for our liking. So we combated this problem by customizing shock brackets to the frame and front control arms and installed OE style shocks for dampening, which now makes this Caddy ride like a Caddy should, while still being able to drop it to the ground. Before the restoration started this Caddy was already in decent condition, with only just a few minor paint bubbling issues where surface rust was starting to reveal itself. Over all this was an incredibly dry car with no major issues to speak of. Over the past year the restoration shop has completely gutted the interior and removed all panels, glass and chrome, taking it down to its shell. Over a period of several months they painstakingly sanded, blocked and re-sanded all body panels numerous times to insure a laser straight finish. Then took all of its bright work and had it professionally straightened and polished to a high luster finish. All the chrome pieces, and I mean “ALL THE CHROME PIECES” were professionally straightened and triple chrome plated to a very high standard. You will notice in the photos that some custom engraving touches were added to the bright work near the fender turn signal housings and a fully recondition Cadillac Biarritz Rear Grill Assembly was installed as well. The interior of this car is simply stunning. It is finished in a medium Taupe color with a high quality soft leather. The original seats, dash cover and door panels were used, but completely rebuilt and re-skinned in leather. All of the interior moldings and bright work were either polished or re-chromed. A matching suede Taupe color headliner was fitted making for a very unique custom look. All the power window motors were tested or rebuilt before re-installation as well as the power seat motors. All window channels and seat tracks were reconditioned and lubed to insure good functionality. All New Window Glass (Front Windshield, Rear Window and all side Glass) along with Rubber Weather Stripping was installed throughout the entire vehicle. Also installed was a brand new “Vintage Air Conditioning and Heating System”, utilizing their lighted “Stream Line 3 knob controller” finished in Anodized Black. This along with all the venting was tastefully fit to the dashboard assembly as seen in the photos. To ensure this AC system will function as a new car, an electric fan was installed on the AC Condenser, which works quickly at cooling the interior on even the hottest days. A Custom Auto Sound Head unit was chosen to be used for its sound system and is backed by 7 Concealed Speakers (2 front 5 ½ Door speakers, 1 custom center dash speaker and 4 rear 6X9 speakers) You'll notice in the photos, the back of the car looks a little different from your normal 60 Caddy. The rear back up lenses were removed and replaced with another set of rear facing Red running lights. Additionally the rear inner bucket light panel was anodized in Candy Red to give it the “Rocket Look”. All new LED lighting was retrofitted to the car as well. Lastly, a unique wheel style was chosen for this beauty, the Max Grundy Design by American Racing 20” two piece welded wheels and new tires. There are several Cadillac's on the market, but none to this level of build quality. We all have come to love and respect this car and feel you will to. Please feel free to come take a look.
