Description of 1970 Cadillac DeVille Coupe de Ville |
I love old Cadillacs. I'veowned over a hundred of them in my 64 years. Whenever I see a good one at anattractive price, I buy it, fix it up, have a little funand thentry to sell it for an honest profit. I bought this one from a man who had it for 15 years, he bought it from the original owner. They both took good care of it and kept it garaged. The mileage is actual at 73,400. I would ratethis oneas a nice, trouble-free driver. The car runs and drives very well. The big, high compression 472 V-8 is smooth, quiet and powerful. It starts right up every time and doesn't overheat or leak. Ditto for the turbo 400 automatic transmission, it shifts just as it should. The steering is tight and smooth as are the brakes, no chatter, wandering or shimmies. The wheel feelsgreat and the pedal in nice and high. The tires are good and are a matching set. Thecomplete original jack set upwith good spare and factory wooden chock are included. There is a small exhaust leak on the right side manifold - once the car warms up, it's not noticeable when driving. All lights, wipers, horn and power options are in working order. The car now has an aftermarket CD player, nicely installed, that works fine. The AC compressor lines get nice and cold, but the system isn't working as it should (I believe it's a vacuum problem). The gas gauge is temperamental. The body is lovely with the doors opening and closing as a good Cadillac should, with no gouges in the glass. The quarters have never been hit, and some of the paintI believe to be original. There are no water leaks evident and the interior is free of musty odors. The leather seats are still nice and supple, further indicating that the car has been garaged. Being a Jersey car since day one it has some rust, less than most, in the typical areas -fender bottoms, lower quarters, andin the trunkaround the mounts and fender wells. The floors, rockers and trunk floor are solid. The frame has surface rust only. There are some dents, scratches and signs of gentle wear that you would associate with an unrestored vehicle of this age. I have many more pictures available upon request.
