| 1961 Cadillac 2 Door Coupe De Ville Survivor Car 43K Original Miles - Key Starts | | |
| This is pick up only in Grangeville, Idaho. Here is an all original 1961 Cadillac De Ville that was a second owner car when I got it. Originally purchased new in California by an old fellow that owned a concrete business, he retired and moved to Idaho. He put 39K miles on it, passed away and my friend bought it and drove it for another 4K miles. He got bored with it, parked it and it has sat for the last decade or so covered in tarps. Each year he put a new tarp on it. The body is straight and having never seen salt, has hardly any rust. The interior did not fair so well being covered up, the upholstery and head liner are dry rotted. Also, on the drivers side floor board there is a rusted area that is brittle from where moisture must have accumulated (lowest point of the car). The rocker panels, trunk floor, doors, etc. are all with surface rust only. This came with factory air conditioning, power seats and windows, clock, AM radio and lots of other De Ville options. Amazingly, after putting a tune up kit in the carb, cleaning out the gas tank and running new fuels lines, this baby started right up! The air conditioner compressor is not locked up. An old school mechanic who got it running said he thought there was a lifter stuck in the open position but thought with some driving it would free up, the engine sounds pretty good. I just today put a brand new NAPA Legend battery in it. The water pump leaks a little. Power steering feels OK. It goes into all gears, automatic transmission. Brakes are OUT! Has no brakes! Needs brakes gone through front to back. All of the original hub caps are present. Missing one outer ring from a head light. The De Ville chrome name plates are gone from the front fenders. There is a dent in the trunk lid. The roof has some bends but appears they will pop out easily. The driver's side rear fin point is bent. I have tried to show pictures of any major damage. When we turned it on, most of the lights came on, the radio tried to work, the power seat motors run and try to work, the power window motors did not do anything though. Again, this is an all original car. The tires are mismatched "May Pops". The trunk is super clean with original jack, the cardboard trunk sign looks almost new. Spare tire cover looks brand new condition. Please ask any questions in advance of the auction end date. A 500 dollar deposit is required within 24 hours of auction ending, balance due on pick up or whatever we decide on. The deposit is refundable should something go awry. Loading help is available, the car is in a garage on Main Street in Grangeville, Idaho. These original running low mile survivor cars are getting hard to find and this one would make a great Winter project with very minor work to get her back on the road.
