Highlights: 1959 Cadillac "Series 62" Convertible Our Quick Condition Guide - (Condition Rating Scale: #1 Perfect, #2 Near Perfect driver, #3 Excellent driver, #4 Nice driver, #5 Needs Work, #6 Parts. Each section is rated based on the type of vehicle it represents being part of.) Overview Of Entire Vehicle: *Condition #2 (Gorgeous, Survivor/Show Car) Here is an absolutely amazing find! It is a gorgeous, survivor 1959 Cadillac "Series 62" in amazing condition inside and out. This is a very original car through out and has to be one of the nicest, mostly original '59 Cadillac convertibles out there. It is a factory triple black car with a lot of original paint, an all-original leather interior, original chrome and even what looks to be its original soft top. The car has its original 390ci engine with a factory tri power set up that was supposedly put on the car from new. It is a true 2-owner car with original documentation from new and was even judged 85 points out of 100 by the Cadillac & LaSalle club at a regional meet. This is truly one of the best '59 Cadillac convertibles you will ever find as it has everything going for it which includes originality, condition, history, documentation, colors, etc.! Here is a full history on this wonderful car. On 2/26/59, Sylvia Wasserman of Skokie, Illinois purchased this car new from the Cadillac Motor Car Division, Chicago Branch that is documented on its original sales invoice. This makes me think she was a GM employee. On 8/18/59 it looks like Alexander Wasserman, which I believe was Sylvia's husband changed insurance from a 1954 Cadillac to this one. Years later, Alexander traded this Cadillac to Selig Chevrolet on 10/18/88 for a brand new 1989 Corvette convertible. My father, Bob Adams Jr. made a deal before hand to purchase the Cadillac from the Chevrolet dealership, which his friend owned. He delivered Mr. Wassermann his new Corvette and took delivery of the '59 Cadillac. We have several pictures documenting this transaction along with paperwork. There are pictures of the car covered in dust coming out of the garage and Mr. Wassermann standing next to the Cadillac and taking delivery of his new Corvette. At that time the car had 27,877 original miles on it. My father took the Cadillac home, cleaned it up, changed the fluids and detailed the entire engine compartment to show quality standards. On 5/8/89 he then sold the car to his good friend and fellow car collector in Wisconsin. He pampered the car, driving it sparingly and stored it in his climate controlled garage for the next 28 years, only putting about 9K miles on it. We just got the car back a couple months ago, bringing it to Arizona and only doing a few minor things to bringing it up to being a turn key beauty! Even after spending its entire life in Illinois and Wisconsin, this car is still completely rust free, as it was always kept in amazing storage. According to the original owner, this car has always had tri power on it, which was an option on every '59 Cadillac, not just the Eldorado's. Being that it looks like it was ordered directly from the Chicago Branch, it may have been a very special car. The Cadillac & LaSalle club also judged this car in 2015 at their regional meet in Brookfield, Wisconsin and the car scored 85.63 points out of 100. Some deductions were one back up light burned out, only one T3 headlight, windshield washer fluid jar empty and the radial tire it did have were not the right size. Realistically this was a 90-point car and even a 95-point car with some things sorted out. You car restore one any day but finding a true survivor is another story. Survivors are only original once, even if they are not completely original. This car has truly stood the test of time and in the end, will be the most desired over restored examples any day. Do not wait, as this car will not last!! Options/Equipment: 390ci V8 Engine w/Factory Tri-Power Exterior: *Condition #2- This Cadillac shows beautifully for being a 60 year old survivor. It was ordered in the best color of Ebony. The car has what looks to be about 70 percent original paint with some touch ups over the years. They did an amazing job as everything matches perfectly. The black paint looks absolutely stunning and is a mile deep. It has very few flaws in the finish, which I document in my video and you really need to look hard to see them. This car has always been garage kept so it is 100% rust free. The body is absolutely straight as arrow with perfect fit and finish as the car has never been apart. You we not find a straighter body on a black '59 Cadillac. All the chrome and trim on the car is original and shows wonderfully as it is all very bright and shiny. With only a few age marks but again you need to really be looking to see them. All of the glass is original and excellent. It is sitting on its original wheels with mint original hubcaps and brand new Coker white wall tires. The black convertible top appears to be original which is absolutely amazing. It shows its age a bit but over all is in great condition with a clear back window. Even the black top boot is original. This Caddy over all shows amazing!! Interior: *Condition #3+ The completely all original black leather interior shows excellent. It is completely original right down to the original carpet. I have seen a lot of '59 Cadillac's but I have never seen such an original interior on a '59 convertible. The black leather seats show a little patina but are still in great condition as they still soft and pliable only missing two buttons. The original carpeting has held up amazing with only some light fading. Under the original black floor mats the carpets looks like new. The original steering wheel is near mint with only some minor wear and a mint horn ring. All the chrome on the dash, the gauge cluster and interior trim is in absolute mint, original condition. The dash pad is excellent for being original just like the door panels. It even has all original weather stripping throughout the car, which is all in great condition still. Everything works in the car except for the clock. Even the original radio sounds great. Inside the trunk has completely all-original paint, spare and jack. The trunk material has been replaced with the correct patterned material and looks excellent. Mechanically: *Condition #2 The car runs and drives amazing, just like a low mileage car should. It only has 36k original miles which you can tell when you get behind the wheel. It has its original 390ci V8 engine that runs like a top and has factory tri power. Under the hood was completely detailed to show condition and is all stock. The tri power unit is 100% complete and functional with its original air cleaner. It has been very well maintained and serviced through out its life. The car really is a true pleasure to drive. Under Carriage: *Condition #3 The underside is extremely clean, original and totally rust free. This was an undercoated car from the factory, which really preserved the body. It has all its original metal and has never had any repairs. The exhaust system is new from the front pipes back and sounds nice and quiet. The suspension while not new, is nice and tight feeling.
