Description of 1967 Cadillac Commercial Chassis Hearse/ambulance combo |
Ok folks, up for auction we have a 1967 Miller Meteor Duplex on a Cadillac chassis, which is a hearse and ambulance combination car. Ive had this car a long time and its been a lot of fun. It has 112k on the odometer. This car also has the removable landau panels on the rear quarter windows. It's clean and solid, certainly not perfect but an excellent candidate for restoration. It has a 429 V8 and TH400 Transmission. Runs, drives, stops and steers great, i don't hesitate to drive it any pace but due to its age you probably want to arrange transport to make sure this car gets home safely. It was originally Grecian White, when I bought it in 96 I stripped it to the bare metal, primed and painted it gloss black. After several years of that I painted it satin black and after a while we dressed it out like the Ecto 1 to use a parade car for a few years. Recently all the Ecto stuff was removed, the holes mig welded up, body work done and primer sprayed over the body work spots, hence the spots in the roof that are a slightly different shade of white. Im going to make an attempt to sell it before I add it to the project list. I'm the 4rth owner of this car, it was originally sold to Gish Funeral home in Oklahoma (don't bother contacting them, they've been sold since and have no records, photos of or any remaining staff that knew anything about this car). The good. It starts and runs great. Solid and practically rust free, just a few surface spots starting to appear in a few spots. Windshield is correct hearse and ambulance only DW678 and is perfect. It's been converted to disc brakes. Converted to one wire alternator. Carb rebuilt a few years ago. Converted to tilt and telescoping wheel. Floorboards are all solid. All the parts that are hearse specific it has. Rare radio deleat plate in dash, though has a few holes driller through it from the funeral home that had it new. Original steering column and front drums brakes can't go with car. Spare (but very rough) grill can go with car. New exhaust with flow master Interior is pretty decent Set up for front and rear air. Linen cabinets in good shape Rear jump seats, so total seating for 5 people. Most all bushings and ball joints replaced in the last few years. Rear leaf spring bushings have been replaced with correct ones. 33 gallon Chevy van gas tank in place or original 12 gallon. I have the original steering column, brakes, drums and spindles if you want to convert it back to stock, Overall, its really pretty clean and its hard to find these from this era in this kind of shape. It's not perfect but still a head turner. Clear Texas title. The Bad The front seat has a cover over it due to a small tear in the upper corner on the drivers side. I was afraid every time I slide over it it would get worse so I got some heavy material and made a seat cover. Truthfully you could pull this cover off and the seat is presentable as is. Exhaust leak, sounds like it might be at the manifold-pipe gasket. Drivers door handle only opens from outside. This is a new problem and probably not a big issue to fix. Needs tires, the tread is decent but they're older tires and it's probably time for a set. Wipers don't seem to work. Headliner in rear around the back door is coming loose in a few spots and doesn't look great. The front headliner has a zipper to access siren wiring and that zipper rotted out a few years back. Crack in the dash and a few cracks in the steering wheel. The door panels have warped some and need to be flattened out or remade to be perfect. Ac needs charged and front compressor seal Hood hinges have the spring removed to make the hood sit flatter. Could really i use a set of hood hinges. There are two small holes in the passenger quarter panel that still need to be welded up. Fuel gauge doesn't work though it did for years after that tank was installed and read correctly. Not sure if its a gauge or a sending unit. The window tint has some bubbles. No biggie. There are little blemishes here and there, overall its clean but I also don't want to present it as a 100 point perfect car. I urge you to come see it in person and really check it out in person. Make sure this is the car for you.Our schedule here is flexible and we'd be happy to show it to you. contact me for pic requests, questions, appointments to see in person, etc...i also have some video of the car starting and running. Ill send the title once you have paid in full. After that you can arrange transport or pickup. Needs to be picked up within 14 days of title being sent. |
