Cadillac has always been an innovator. They put the first electric starters in cars in 1911, they introduced automatic climate controls in '64, and in '81 they put a diesel engine in a big luxury car. It offers great fuel mileage along with great comfort so is great for those long-distance road trips. Check it out. Quality has also been a hallmark of Cadillac through the years, and that may be one of the reasons that this... factory original Gray paint still looks so good. It still has a nice shine and shows off the strong lines of the car that make it look so solid. Another reason may be that this car has been driven less than 77,000 miles in its life! This must have been somebody's special occasion or vacation car. Out at the front end of that long hood there is a Cadillac crest and below that is a big, chrome, eggcrate grill flanked by quad headlights and underlined by a substantial chrome bumper. Chrome trims out the wheel wells and the rocker panels and protective body side molding runs down the side of the car. A Gray vinyl roof still looks good while out back, tall vertical taillights bracket a very large trunk which is underlined by a simple bumper set low to allow for easy access for loading and unloading. Open the door and you will find a Maroon Velour interior with seats that are probably more comfortable than the furniture in your living room. The front seats are power operated with a fold down armrest between them. The back seats don't move but offer the same level of comfort, also with a fold down armrest so will seat 2 or 3 passengers very comfortably. The door panels are dressed out in vinyl and wood trim with the driver having all the switches for the power windows, locks and mirrors at his fingertips. The steering wheel is even trimmed with wood and is mounted on a column that both tilts and telescopes with a Cadillac crest in the center. The dash is almost entirely wood tone with the speedometer in the center and controls for the lights, wipers and cruise control on the left. An FM/ cassette deck sits just over the controls for the electronic climate control system. And don't forget about that huge trunk where you can throw plenty of luggage. Pop the hood and you will find a 5.7-liter diesel V8 engine sitting in a neat and clean engine bay. It's not easy to find a diesel Cadillac, and especially one with such low mileage on it. So, if you are a diesel fan or looking for a luxury long distance cruiser, this may be your car. It is the original engine in this car, is completely stock, and with only 77,000 miles on it, its barely through break-in. Power flows back through a 3-speed automatic transmission to the rear wheels mounted on coil springs and located with trailing arms. Up front, control arms and coil springs work with the power steering to make this car handle well for something big enough to be considered a personal limo. Power front disc brakes provide good stopping power and the rubber meets the road through 275/75R15 white wall tires with wire wheel hub caps with Cadillac centers. Come on down and check out this unique, diesel Cadillac. Then take it home with you and start planning your long-distance cruising with it.
