Description of 1966 Cadillac Eldorado 466-B Leather |
Selling a nice 1966 Cadillac Eldorado Convertible in good driving condition. I was told this one is supposed to be a little more rare because it has bucket seats in front. There were only 2,250 Eldorados originally built in 1966, so I am guessing a smaller number had the optional bucket seats. I bought this nice Cadillac Eldorado on August 2, 2012 from a gentleman in Flossmore, Ill. It had 76,291 miles on it then, and now has 76,895 miles, so I have driven about 600 miles in the seven years I have owned her. When I registered the car in California after purchase the DMV clerk said the car was coming back to California, as it had been registered here before. As you can see from the VIN ID tag which is in the driver's door, the car was originally registered to a Capt. K.E. Kern. No idea who that was, or where in 1966. VIN is JE6106087. The car has a 429 cubic inch V-8 engine producing 340 horse power per the original spec. Car was built with code 68467-FWD and the production code is 09E, which means produced the 5th week of September 1966. She is fun to drive, looks nice, and earned me a first place trophy at a local car show for her category. Car has recently been given the once over by my mechanic, and they installed a new battery. Mechanic reports the brakes have 90% life remaining and all else is well, and the fittings greased. When I first bought the car in 2012 I had my mechanic check it over. He replaced the front shocks, sway bar link kit, repair of right front frame at strut rod, new trans mount, aligned wheels and replaced some seals and valve cover gaskets. I recently ordered (and they are included in the sale) a set of the felts for all the windows. I haven't had them installed yet. The electric convertible top works well and the top has no rips or tears and the rear window is PPG Glass. The trunk is clean as per photo. Inside the trunk has the air connection ports for the rear air adjustable shocks. Under the hood is good. The car looks like it was re-painted sometime in the last 10-20 years. Original paint code is 90-3 Cobalt Firemist. You can see some evidence of a little body work here and there, all many years ago from what I can tell. The paint is in great condition, and is a bright blue with what appears to be metalflake type depth to the paint. The interior is in great shape, with new carpet and new leather on the seats. The original trim code is 466-B, which is Blue Leather and I believe the B is the bucket seats indicator. I don't know when the leather was replaced, but I would guess in the last 10-20 years. The radio is an electronic version of the original and needs to be replaced. The clock doesn't work, but those can be sent off for repair or replacement I am told. I am selling the car because we bought a motorhome 2 years ago and we also started collecting grandkids (5 total so far) and so I haven't had the time to enjoy my Cadillacs as I once did, and I feel like it's time to let someone else enjoy her. Most of the time I have owned this car it has been parked inside my business warehouse. A few weeks ago I brought her home after a company leased the extra space I had in my warehouse. Glad to answer questions and if you want to test drive, I am in Camarillo, California. I can text a video of the car being started if interested. |
