Owner's Manual SELLER REMARKS If Las Vegas was a car. it would be this 1969 Cadillac DeVille convertible. Flashy. brash. and unashamed of being that way. this is a big-league cruiser with a ton of charisma that's available for the price of a used Honda. Arriving in this car is always an event. and if you've got the personality for it. there's no better way to arrive in style than this. Bright red wasn't on Cadillac's color chart in 1969. but it's a big improvement over the original code 47 Wisteria Metallic. which was a kind of purple-gray. After all. if you're going to cruise around in 19 feet of Cadillac ragtop. you may as well go all-in on the eyeball appeal. It was repainted a few years ago so while it may not be perfect. there's no denying that there's a lot of red paint here and it shines up beautifully. It does not appear that this car suffers from the usual issues that plague these cars: the fender skirts fit well. the doors open and close easily. and the side moldings show off a very straight body. For a big Caddy. there's not a lot of chrome. although the bumpers are massive and the taillights show off the last vestiges of tail fins. and the bright work sparkles against the red paint. Despite the overt flashiness of the paint. this is one heck of a good-looking car!The white interior is just the place for you and four buddies to have a road trip adventure. with wide bench seats that ensure everyone has plenty of space. a Cadillac. it's loaded with power features. including power windows that should be mandatory on any convertible where you have to get out of your seat to reach the other side of the car. The gauges are original and cover only the basics. but the console-style instrument panel puts everything at your fingertips. There's a newer digital AM/FM stereo that could almost pass for a factory-correct unit. but that's the lone deviation from factory specs. The door panels. seats. and carpets are in good condition and no splits or tears in the upholstery and the giant trunk is fully finished with black carpets and a full-sized spare. There's also a white power convertible top that's got a little age on it. but you'll only be using it for emergencies anyway. and it works just fine for that. Cadillac's burly 472 cubic inch V8 makes the DeVille feel effortless in everything it does despite nearly 5000 pounds of curb weight to haul around. Wearing correct Cadillac Blue engine enamel. a factory air cleaner. and lots of evidence of recent service work. it's a reliable. low-stress powerplant that is right at home cruising the highways of America. A decidedly un-Cadillac-like dual exhaust system was recently installed that includes a pair of Flowmaster mufflers and chrome tips under the rear bumper. but this car is already a 1-car parade. so why not have some fun? The suspension is still pure Cadillac magic carpet ride and the brakes are competent. A TH400 3-speed automatic feeds a heavy-duty rear end with 2. 94 gears inside. so this sucker just eats highway without wearing out. Shiny chrome wire wheels add elegance and carry big 235/75/15 wide whitewall radials for a brilliant effect. Just a big American luxury convertible done the traditional way. If you crave attention. few cars generate it better than this.
