Description of 1960 Cadillac Other

It's a beautiful car but will need a lot of work. The biggest concern is rust. The interior got wet at some point in the car's past. and did a lot of damage. There are bubbles visible on the outside. and when I got the car I pulled out most of the interior to dry the car out. so there's plenty visible from inside as well. The rear door's inner/lower structure is eaten enough that the door is somewhat floppy. Body rust is the biggest issue. but there are others: When I got the car. it ran and drove well enough over the 2 miles I drove it home. The automatic transmission has a slow leak. but functioned fine. When I last tried to start the engine. the water pump began leaking so I haven't fired it up. but it ran fine previously. The engine is stock except for a newer Carter carburetor. The gas in the tank smells like it should be drained and re-filled. The original brakes failed. and I installed a disc conversion on the front. I have not yet installed the new dual circuit master cylinder or the new rear wheel cylinders and brake shoes that will be included with the car. The previous owner took out the funerary equipment in the back. but saved it all. and it will be included. All the interior pannels. door. as well as floor. are there. The previous owner also fiberglassed over some of the floor- where the front and rear passenger area would be in a normal wagon. Unfortunately. when they put the hood scoop on it. they did cut a hole in the hood. ALL GLASS IS GOOD. I also have a higher top 1960 Cadillac Ambulance that could be up for sale also. It's also a big project. but has less rust. but no engine. trans. etc. If the price gets high enough. I may end the auction early. I lost my storage and need to move the car quickly and would like to see the car get to a good home. The Hearse has been indoors for the last 6 years. and indoor storage is HIGHLY recommended! The car is already loaded on my trailer. and if you're close by. delivery is a possibility. for a fee. On Mar-13-15 at 17:32:35 PDT. seller added the following information: I spent a few minutes looking at the floor and the rust. There are holes in the floor. hidden by the fiberglass and there are rust holes in the rocker panels. Rust really is this car's biggest problem. The car's original interior consisted of a front seat area. and immediately behind that. a raised load floor with tracks for an automated 3-way casket handling "slab" so that a casket could be loaded in through the rear door using rollers. or through either set of side doors using the slab which would slide forward and rotate to face the side door. The tracks and screw drive are still there. though not bolted in. the slab is there. but its inner structure is cracked in multiple places. It looks fine. but wouldn't support weight while rotated. Some of the support structure was removed to make space for a back seat. but all of the complex machinery is still there. The door panels and plywood decking for the floor are still there. ALL of the interior panels and equipment are piled in the center/back of the car. making the interior difficult to photograph effectively. So here's a description: The floor ahead of the rear wheels is at a traditional height and had bad enough rust that the previous owner fiberglassed over it. It seems plenty strong. but from a restoration standpoint isn't right. Just ahead of the rear wheels. the floor rises up about 10 inches and continues at that height all the way back. The load floor was raised above that by about 2. 5 inches. The floor in this back section is much better. but still has some rusty spots. especially back near the rear door. The rear door has rusted badly. The bottom of the inner rear door structure has rusted out entirely and as a result. the door has a lot more flex than it should. Rust blisters are visible on the outside of the door around the perimeter. If anyone is close enough to view the car before the auction ends. I would be happy to show it.
