Description of 1938 Cadillac Other |
**NOTE: This listing is posted on behalf of a fellow member of the Cadillac LaSalle Club who is unfamiliar with eBay. Car is located in Linglestown PA (Harrisburg PA area) at the owner's residence where it can be inspected by appointment. Offered for sale, a 1938 LaSalle, model 5019. Selling due to age and health considerations. Car is a solid number 3 car, cosmetically reconditioned over the years. No chrome or missing parts. Car runs great with just under 63,000 miles on the clock. Due to vehicle age, mileage is listed as "EXEMPT" on title. Inspections welcome & encouraged. The history as I know it. Car originally owned by Theodore c. Merkel who owned for 2 years untll his passing in 1940 and car was listed in his will to his two sisters Ester and Anna. Have a copy of the original will documenting this. Then the Tri county Petrolium company in Defiance PA owned it for years. Then a Mr Eugene Filsler of Dillsburg PA who sold it to Jeff Bowers (also of Dillsburg) then consigned to Wessels used cars in Dillsburg. One more owner in Etters PA, who's name escapes me at the moment from whom I purchased the car in 2011. I have one oil change sticker from H. E. Lee and Sons from 6-27-1972 indicating 56, 672 miles at that time. Many new parts since I've owned it. Radiator, plugs, some paint touch up exhaust manifolds. Car shines and shows very well. The bad- tranny synchro from 2nd to 3rd a little worn. However I have a spare transmission goes with it. Have new leaf spring for it not yet installed. Clock works but not original to car. Running boards replaced before my ownership, rubber okay, but at some point will need replacing by new owner. I do not have proper era Jack for the car. Interior, original door panels, headliner and seats, front seat reupholstered. Paint, 7.5 to 8 out of 10. Bias tires are good. Car runs as a 1938 should. V8 powered flathead. All lights work. Gas gauge goes to half. Oil and charging gauges do work. By definition, this is NOT a number one or two car but IS a very nice solid number 3 car. Really nicer then most number 3s you see at shows today. Immediate $500 Deposit Required with Buy-It-Now option. Payment in full due within 7 days.
